This Time I'm Really Going To Do It

I'm so glad the horsebox passed (and the situation as a whole is comprehensible to you) and I'm extra glad that you've got one talk under your belt already. You can do the next one too, you'll be fine.2023: the year I get to buy a car2

Great news on the horsebox! I also set out with grand ambitions around things like conference inputs.... but trust you know your stuff, you are enough. Nobody but you will notice what you might have done but didn't!4

Very wise words @Starlight_at_Sea I could have done better in yesterday's but that is ok, only I knew what and where. I've made some notes on a print out of the presentation so if I ever reuse it then I know how I would like to amend it.
indulged in a fantasy of "running away" when I saw a house for sale in Lincolnshire at about half what I would get for the cottage and land but then after the day was over and I sat on the sofa with my coffee, a glass of wine (not yet alcohol free, i was tired and bought a single glass type bottle on the way home) I had a good think. Really it is not half the price, it looks like it needs work, I would be away from everything and everyone I know and while the idea of starting over sounds great it would not be so and, if I knew no-one then I would be happy to work as I wouldn't have so much else I wanted to do LOL
So I will just settle down. Bought two tortillas as contribution to Girlfriends Walk and Picnic today. I'll pack an knife and they can be eaten with fingers. I tried to suggest proper organisation of picnic, i.e. who is bring plates etc but that fell flat so I'll just go with the flow and see how it works out.

Tidied and started to clean a bathroom. Took everything out and discovered something that I already knew but made me smile. Beauty products have great adverts but to even know if they work one actually has to use them. I have a lot, and I mean a lot, of products. Mostly opened, mostly quarter used so I'm assuming I bought when my self esteem was really low and used and gave up. My self esteem isn't much better but rather than throw away stuff and feel worse about the amount of "stuff" I piled all the spares into a cupboard and made up a box of stuff to try and use up by the wash basin. I found a pretty heart shaped box and put it in there so it looks more "treat" than "guilt".

thank you @Honeysucklelou2 Pleased enough although managed to lose some business leads I had written on forms on the day. That has just convinced me I need to be more tech orientated for next time!
Have read over on the buying no new toiletries thread after finding the bathroom full of stuff too. That gave me the idea to repurpose some if it and have bought two hand pump bottles that were cheap and look ok to start decanting some of the shampoo and bubble bath into for hand wash. There is a bottle I could have used for free but, and this might sound silly, but it reminds me of the ex and all the trauma and I realised I have found it quite traumatising to look at and when my new bottles arrive I will throw it away.
It seems strange what triggers memories that make me feel panicked but if it is as simple as a bottle of hand wash I can just throw it away.

in other news the garden lights work. They have not worked properly for maybe 6 years. The ex was always "going to fix them" but never did. On advice some were removed and the power disconnected, some replaced, some had wiring repaired and some just needed bulbs. I'm not sure who was more surprised to see them finally light up, me or the man doing the work.
This wasn't really an essential spend, I can always take a torch out with me, but, it did bring me joy to see them light up again. I've splashed out on two solar spots to light a couple of plants. We played with phones and a torch and realised lighting a plant I had moved might look really lovely when I'm sitting on the patio. I also know now that if rains and they cause the house lights to trip where the problem is and the solution will be to stop the lights at that point and remove the rest of the path lights and look for an alternative. Happy days!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Sorting things like that gives a feeling of clearness and contentment that might seem way out of proportion - but it's brilliant
Well done you

You have new light in your life, as opposed to broken lights with your ex. There's a metaphor in there somewhere.

Back in the day when we had a gardener, she systematically pulled out and piled up the solar lights we had beside some steps as she maintained the metal spikes were contaminating the ground. It seemed unlikely to us but they stayed out, and several were broken when she left so we have never replaced them and have not had any since!
There was a small charity that a former colleague was involved with, offering care respite to young carers, with weekends away and all my unwanted toiletries and cosmetic gifts and also opened toiletries went to them. They put the shower gloop and shampoos into the pump dispensers in the showers and made up small travel sized bottles for all the guests to take home, if they liked what they had been using. I felt very worthy, donating, and I cleared two of those plastic crates full of "stuff" I was never going to use. Win, win!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
