Lovely day, I've been fighting a losing battle with the bracken in the field for a while. We have a drought, nothing grows but bracken. The boyfriend cleared the lot so I've been trying to keep on top of it by mowing it. Internet wisdom from the Forestry Commission suggests rolling it once cleared will weaken it but the ground is so hard that even the ancient tractor and roller seem to bounce over the top so I decided mowing might do the trick. I've been warned a few times that the lawn mower is not man enough for the job so today I purchased a ride on mower. The boyfriend found it on Facebook marketplace for £145 and off we went to see it in the horsebox. He paid £130 and stashed it in the lorry for me, cheerfully advising me the front tyres were flat, it probably needs a new battery and the £15 reduction was because there was no starter thingy but not to worry about the detailsThe front tyres have been pumped up, the battery is being recharged and boyfriend is happily tinkering with it as I type. Either I have a bargain or he has a toy for Saturday night. I think it might have been a MSE bargain but only time will tell.
Loving your handy boyfriend - think he is a gift from the goddesses after the last oneDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Well the last one could fix anything, this model is less skilled but kind and loving so I'm happy with that. He makes me laugh with the Ride On Mower which was apparently in working order a few days ago but is now not. it has the letters "MTD" on the side and he says this stands for "Much Trouble Daily"
internet was out for a day yesterday so decamped to local posh hotel with laptop. £4 for a pot of tea and the most luxurious room to work in. Then sat by the lake in the sun and considered the £4 a bargain.
The internet failure also made me think about the business and how I am really not set up properly. It was ok all the time the ex was here 'helping" but I think now I need to think more about the business vulnerabilities.
Finally this bank changing lark seems complicated but sticking with it. Finally managed to sort bay of e payments into new account and card has arrived so now to set it up on my phone.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -

Delighted to have had a response from my MP. I wrote to her when I found out that there had been a government report on the equalities of co-habitees which found that many women do not realise they position they will be in on leaving their partner. Her response just says she has written to the Secretary of State for Women asking what changes in legislation she will be introducing based on the report. Am looking forward to the response.
I have no idea how to become a force for change but this seemed a good starting point.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Back to wandering around the countryside on the charming cob. Wonderful. The downpours mean I should be able to ride in the arena now as not so dusty.
Waiting on a friend to arrive with a curry - she is staying for a couple of nights. The house troll does not know! I'm not sure he will be delighted to find the boyfriend on the sofa whilst girlfriend and I share a room (I cannot put her on the sofa - robust she may be but I'm not sure she wants to meet my ex at 6 am) LOLMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
