Fab day yesterday. Le Trec wonderful sport. The yard was so friendly, everyone was lovely. Owing to me not really understanding the system we pulled out of the ridden class as it would have meant hanging around all day as there was something like 7 hours between the classes I entered! So only did the inhand and it was great fun. I learnt how to do the obstacles and next time Most Handsome should get more marks as I now know what we are meant to do.
Riding it will be a bit nerve wracking but going to do more this year as will be so good for my confidence levels - and - his too!
Took food with me and had dinner all prepped for when we got home and even remembered flasks of hot water for teas etc so all good there. And best of all Most Handsome loaded nicely going and coming home. He got a bit stressed in the lorry on the return journey and got very sweaty but I think that might be because he wanted a pee and had to go in the lorry (he is very fussy about that sort of thing :) ) Mr Watty gave him breakfast on lorry again this morning and reports no trouble loading so clearly Most Handsome still happy to go on lorry. All good :j

My niece loves horseriding, and often spends an extra hour or so at the stables, but I can see from your posts (both of you!) that she gets just the cream of being around horses, and none of the hard work.

    Hope this week goes well.

  • Watty You did it, You did it!!!

    Brilliant!

Oh I remember the "first pony" we went to see which the owner couldn't catch.
It was in it's stable at the time!

KC yes and no about your neice. What she won't be getting (yet!) is the bond that Watty so clearly has with Most Handsome. That takes months of 1:1 to form I think.

Thanks all. KC, Smallholding is right, there is something lovely about just being with horses. I remember one evening just sitting in my elderly pony's stable and reading War Horse out loud to him. The book made me cry, he snuffled around and munched his hay and it was just a nice evening and very special as he was well over 30 at that time and I knew he wouldn't be with me much longer. That bond is something amazing. Ah, I didn't mean to waffle on. Only came on with exciting financial mutters/gift for my birthday :) see next post

So it is my birthday and a neighbour pops around. He has noticed I have my mail picked up every day. Now one local village post office has closed and he doesn't want to use the other one. Could the postman take his mail too? Well I showed him the cost of having the mail picked up and he did a double take. I simply said I had worked out it was cheaper than me driving to the village every day and waiting in line for them to fiddle about with my mail and be rude to me (which they always are :rotfl:) I simply said that now he had seen the cost, what was he thinking - and - he suggested £10 a week which is about half what I pay. Am delighted.
If this works out then this will be a lovely boost to the company fund over the year. His wife dropped their mail off in a sack today. Easy :j
