Fab 3 days totally off. Stayed in (expensive) London Hotel and went to Olympia Horse show for 2 days. Then home and catch up with friends and ..well where did that week go ???
    Spreadsheets not started.
Mr Watty has been told he will not get redundancy.
However the Watty household will be working on simple living for 2016
and yes I fear it all starts with a spreadsheet
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

That *does* sound fab:j and I agree, simple living seems to be the only way forward. I'll be interested in your spreadsheet headings :D

Given the amount I spent at Olympia KC simple living is the aim but I'm not sure I have it in me :D

However did buy all Christmas pressies. Sadly however I splashed out on something Mr Watty really wanted and now find I have brought the wrong model. He wanted a thermal imaging camera to plug onto his I-phone. He saw it before we were MF and agreed it was a waste of money. I saw the stand and thought it would be a lovely treat, bought the 'latest' model at £150 and now find it isn't the one he actually wanted. Am trying to see if I can change it :(
Am so disappointed, after a frugal couple of years splashing out seemed so frivolous and I got it wrong !
On another note, other presents for people on which I would usually have spent around £25 to £55 have been reduced to lovely silk scarves (£5) or handmade soaps or candles. None have been more than £8. I did all the shopping in one place and felt so much at peace about it.

Sorry to hear about the splashing out wrongly bit :( since its a gift and so recent, you've surely got a good chance at a refund? More faff, I know.

I love buying all the pressies in one place - not only is it super efficient, there's a real feeling of luxury, wandering round and saying "I'll have that .... and that .... and that" :):):)

You've done well on the prices too!

Glad you had a good break in London and enjoyed the horse show.

I think, if a person lives fairly simply most of the time, it leaves money for the non-simple things that we like to do.

I don't think my living will ever be truly simple, but I feel I've at least mastered mindfulness regarding spending.

Hopefully, you'll be able to change the camera, but it's a bit of a faff that you could have done without.

Good going on the other presents, though:)

  • Jealous of the days out at Olympia - sounds fab! I've been a couple of years but keep meaning to take time off work and do it properly (not just the evening performance one day).

Well done on the present shopping, hope swapping Mr Watty's camera goes well!

Hiddenshaddow - the whole of Olympia's evening performance is on the BBC Red Button on Monday. I plan to sit on the sofa with dog and watch the lot. I went to two dressage days this year so it will be fabulous to see the evening performance and jumping via TV :)

Ponies cleaned properly. Photo session planned for tomorrow morning with a 'real photographer' rather than just me waving a camera :) Am really excited as I am after a shot of ponies and dog for the kitchen wall.
Now to hope the virtually white Fell pony does not sleep on a 'poop pillow'

Thanks - we've watched the Monday nights the last few years once we found out they put it on red button. :) I like going for the atmosphere but the seats are much cheaper (and easier to get to) at home. ;)

Watched the Puissance on BBC and the World Cup qualifier yesterday - much more exciting than some years have been. Still have to watch the dressage on iPlayer - might do that this afternoon. :)

Nice! I was explaining to DH while we watched Olympia the phenomenon of white horse + bath + determined focus on depositing grass/poop/anything else dark onto one's body.

Amazingly the Fell pony remained clean. This was a first for him. Most Handsome however got most messy overnight. He is however a treasure to clean up and a quick wash and brush up and all is restored.
Photographer came and went luckily the rain stayed away. Just hoping I get the shot I really really want now. He says he can do it using photoshop so fingers crossed.
Probably last busy day at work before the lazy days of Christmas.
