When I bought the Vec, I walked into a dealers and paid cash, I could quite easily afford £400 a month in car finance, why would I spend stupid money on a decidedly average motor? If i'm gonna spend that sort of money, I want something special, not a Micra on stilts.

Right...but OP was talking about spending a quarter of that...

The amount is irrelevant, it's still a finance type deal (ie cannot afford in cash), we tend to live to our means, one mans 100 a month is another mans 400.
    It's all relative.....

You said you wouldn't pay £400/month for a Micra on stilts, but the Micra on stilts in question is only £105/month. You are right, of course, there are probably a number of cars I'd prefer for £400/month...I just don't know what that has to do with anything.

I guess you're saying that you had the option of getting something "good" for £400/month, or the "Micra on stilts" equivalent (ie the Vectra) for less and you chose that...but you seem to be contradicting yourself there...

And FWIW, it's a very bold assumption to say that someone with car finance "cannot afford in cash". I could easily afford to buy a car in cash should I so wish - I just find leasing a car more convenient.

You have been panning the Juke all through this thread for poor dynamics, poor handling, being 'average' and - lets get this straight - you drive a Vectra 1.8??????

    You couldnt make it up!!

    :rotfl: Love it!
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

No, this is not what I was saying at all.

I'm talking from the point of getting oneself into debt for a car that's really nothing to write home about, regardless of what it costs. I don't see why anyone in their right mind would do that.

But with some people trying to twist my words, i'd have to go right back to the start and re-write everything i've said in laymans terms..... I can't be ar5ed, i've got much better things to do.
