Yours is a particularly problematic drive. Couple that with low quality media and you have a problem. Indeed, slow the write speed.

Did you remove any and all USB connected peripherals?0 -

Did you remove any and all USB connected peripherals?
In my defence..... when I was in the shop, I chose Kodak as the others were unknown names... I thought I was choosing good media
Remove on what - did you mean on this laptop?
There were none on the PC.
On this laptop I only have it plugged into the mains, no USB devices attached.
EDIT: Download has now completed. Attempting burn, I'll go for 20x speed this time. The discs say 52x on them.0 -
It burnt, then ejected the CD and I had to press it back in and press OK to verify. Verify failed:
"Layouts do not match"0 -
Is there anything on the disc?0

I hadn't bothered to look.... the writing process completed and all looked well. It was only at the verify stage it went t1ts up.NiftyDigits wrote: »Is there anything on the disc?
I'll check and report back in 2 minutes.
Edit 1:
I went to Computer and chose the drive, a dialog box popped up to say: Burn a Disc, Prepare this blank disc.
It was offering for me to input a filename. .. so it doesn't look like it.
EDIT 2: Using ImgBurn, Verify, says it is an empty disc
EDIT 3: I am now using the Test option. I think Edit2 was flawed as I should have compared the disc with a file, which I hadn't done.
EDIT 4: Test says "Operation successfully completed" and plays a jingle.
I'll try a burn again0 -
Bl00dy error.
