I have a small problem with "signature" scents. I go and spend some time looking at and smelling different scents and pricing them, sounds like a big deal, but a really nice perfume and matching bits is a big thing for me as a treat!! .
But for the past few times (Angel, Issey Miyake, Carolina Herrera 212, Jo Malone pomegranate noir and blackberry and bay!!!) My lovely mother has thought I have such lovely taste in perfume , that she goes and buys what I have invested in. And to make matters worse, my nana then does it to her. Its Avon or body shop all the way now!

My favourite perfumes are both by Prada, Tendre for daytime & L'Eau Ambree for evenings out. Both have been discontinued & are now really hard to find. Luckily I have stocked up but eventually will have to try & find something new. It is really irritating when something you like is no longer available.

Oh I have a few. I always used to wear Chloe narcisse which is a very strong warm scent. My most recent purchases have been Vera Wang Princess (vanilla undertones), Davidoff cool water- grapefruit undertones, and Hugo Boss Orange. I love all of these.
Recently at work, I have smelt some lovely perfumes and the girls have all said that they are a Britney Spears one. I may have to put my prejudice aside and investigate.
Perfume makes me feel like a grown up :).

I have to agree with everyone who has said - basically - 'Try before you buy'.

I work with some colleagues who smell absolutely divine :o

They have very generously told me what perfume they are wearing. Ranging from Lidl/Aldi to top-of-the-range designer perfumes.

When I have tried the same scents myself, they simply haven't worked. And I have been overpowered by them!

I think I'd have the same reaction to some of the perfumes I've liked in past decades

All that said, my personal favourites currently are:

Amor Amor - Cacharel (good for the occasional Boots deal)
    J'Adore - Dior
    Rush 2 - Gucci
