I love original Ghost and Ghost Sweetheart.

I like light perfumes like O de Lancôme, in the original and orange.

Some of Marks ones are good copies.

I have to agree with everyone who has said - basically - 'Try before you buy'.

I work with some colleagues who smell absolutely divine :o

They have very generously told me what perfume they are wearing. Ranging from Lidl/Aldi to top-of-the-range designer perfumes.

When I have tried the same scents myself, they simply haven't worked. And I have been overpowered by them!

    That's very true!

A friend of mine used to wear Ysatis (sp) years ago, it smelled lovely on her.

I tried it in the airport duty-free and 5 mins after I sprayed it, I felt very sick and had to go and wash it off.

Even my OH agreed it smelled nasty.

I've learnt iver the years which perfums smell good on me when warmed up, im rarely wrong (so im the nutter in Boots spraying the deoderants into their caps and squirting shower gels up my nose, once literally unfortunately...)

Today I am mostly wearing the red one from Aldi which smells like Kenzo Flowers @ £3.99

There is apparently a dearth of perfume samples these days. Have manufacturers finally caught onto the fact some people used to collect samples every weekend and just never buy the perfume?

Boots have said they only really have samples in when there is a specific new promotion for an existing perfume or a new product launch for a new one.

The Perfume Shop had none and said I should just get a spray of something different from their counter bottles to try each time I'm in.

Debenhams also didn't have very much but they did pass on 4 little vials of perfume.

I'm surprised. I'm not in town very often so 'popping in' isn't really the best option. I was hoping to get loads of samples and road test over a week or two to find out which one was best to buy.

I find http://www.fragrantica.com/search/ very useful, type in the perfumes you like best, it will tell you the notes and show you other perfumes with that note, and also what other people who like that perfume also like, I then look for samples on ebay for the ones im most interested in.

It's funny how you can like a perfume on someone but hate it on yourself. I was like that with Dune.

It's something to do with the acidity of your skin I think, it alters the way the scent reacts to your skin depending on the person. I'm the same as most, I have stopped people on the street to ask what they were wearing several times, and every time it was a perfume I'd actually tried and hated previously!
My skin reacts badly to floral smells I think, they turn really sharp on me, horrible. Vanilla, on the contrary...mmmmh....
