I will probably end up locuming and we will likely have to go back to renting before we can buy again which will feel like a step backwards. On a positive note if I locum for a while I can earn a small fortune and put it away for a bigger deposit on the next house
Oh well there will be plenty of time to work all that out! Will work out my spending later on and post an update.
Sounds quite exciting but I agree that it will probably be very disruptive. Still, if you stay focused on the 'save money' side of things it might work out quite well.

I didn't get anything productive done yesterday on my bedroom but my sick work mate should be back tomorrow so I will hopefully have a bit more time for that. Also the electrician who was meant to be coming around today also had a sick person to deal with so he is coming tomorrow. I am full of plans to get up early, walk the dog and then have a couple of hours productive time to work on the house and other bits and pieces. We'll see how that goes...
Otherwise I did manged to cook my dinner last night - at least more of a cook than 'tip bought soup into a saucepan and heat up on stove'. Baby steps :cool:Mini Challenge - Halve 2nd Mortgage by Year EndStarting: £10,000 Currently £8,142.62£3,142.62 to go!0 -
Well done on the cooking SSS! I've been experimenting while I've been off work, made Paul Hollywoods egg custards (inspired by bake off) and garlic soda bread (a girl called jack recipe). Worked out the finances today and still got £60 to spend on food to meet my target, with the month ending on the 25th September so seems manageable.
I forgot how expensive a month it was going to be with OHs birthday and tomorrow I need to fill up with diesel, get two new tyres and a bag of dog food so no money going spare at all for the rest of the month!!
8 of my 9 eBay items sold making £40, about £32 after fees so will be adding that to my savings pot (aim was to add £50 this month). Overall fairly positive as long as I'm careful for the rest of the month. I think NSD's might be next months aim as I seem to spend a little money every day.
Hope everyone else is doing well? Keep smiling!

Yum! How did they turn out?
Wednesday was not NSD, got voucher for delayed flight, but what I bought went 90p over. Then they took my water off me at security, so in the 5 hour wait after I did need a drink, £2 for a bottle of water
Yesterday was a NSD though

Not bad! Both will probably be better on the next attempt! Was so worried about overcooking the egg custards that I slightly undercooked them, tasted good though.
The garlic bread I have worked out cost 33p to make and was enough for 2 of us with a serving to spare so 11p a serving!! That is the same price as a SmartPrice garlic baguette which weighs only 170g. I didn't weigh mine but it had 200g of flour in it and was definitely bigger than a shop bought one! Very MSE.
By the way if you haven't discovered a girl called Jack - her blog has amazing cheap recipes!0 -
Right well, food shop tomorrow, with one more after that before the end of the month, so if I can keep it below £30 I will be very happy. The £50 I'm saving will now be paying a builder to do some repointing on the house (needs doing urgently, part of an ongoing damp problem in the downstairs shower!) so unlikely to do more than the usual £100 OP this month.
Oh well, will crack on with trying to make £50, done about £33 so far

£30 left in the food budget till the 25th to hit my target, hopefully the extra £17 for savings will be found atthe end of the month! Fingers crossed.

:)Well I had a successful 'no spend on food' week last week so that's brought me down to my target of 'only 1 per week' (because I had two spend days the previous week).
The main lights in my bedroom are now up although I've yet to make a start on my floors. I am planning to this week as I don't have to leave for work until 3pm so that gives me plenty of time in the daylight to get this done.
My cooking is also going well. I made some sort burrito's one day and another a random stir fry with some chicken that needed to be used up (only two days past 'use by' date :rotfl:). I'm still alive and kicking!
The OPs are ticking away - I am still putting in £5 for each working day I don't buy my lunch and once I get to the end of the month I'll see how much I need to add in to make up my £1000 off total (including the actual mortgage payment itself).
So, all in all, things are ticking away nicely.

Half way through September, so far no spends apart from petrol and stationery. No spends on coffee or food at uni, have been a good girl and brought food to uni every day. Even today when I accompanied friends to C0$ta, and smelled the beautiful aromas... but I did not buy

Well done Calfuray! I like the idea of putting money away everytime you don't spend at lunch SSS. That should be a nice chunk at the end if the month.
I had an unexpected spend of £37.47 yesterday for a text book that I need for a course I'm starting this weekend. So my £50 extra in savings might not happen as the money sitting in paypal will be going towards that!
More than halfway through September now! Keep smiling
