Hi waddler_8
The laptop still can't run IE, it loads it and says it's connecting then shuts down. I can only run Chrome with the "protect my computer" box unchecked and Malwarebytes fails to install. I'l try your link now and post any error messages.

Hi waddler_8.
Malwarebytes failed to install again.
"CoCreate instance failed; Code 0x80040154.
Class not registered"
This happens for all .ink files
Then if you click ok on all the error messages it then brings up, twice
"runtime error '372' Failed to load 'WebBrowser' from ieframe.dll
Your version of ie frame may be outdated. make sure you are using the version provided with the application"

Hi Waddler_8
It seems to be stuck on downloading updates for ie8
Haven't got a desktop so can't check internet connection. It's been about 3 hours now. I know there is probably loads of updates but even with my poor internet should it take this long or is it stuck?

It does seem a long time. When you say you haven't got a desktop do you mean windows explorer has been stopped?
If so, ctrl + alt + delete on your keyboard to open TaskManager
go to File > New task (run...) > type explorer > then click ok0 -

Doesn't load. I've just got my wallpaper with the ie8 install window, no icons or task bars.
Sorry Waddler_8 I mean explorer doesn't load, task manager comes up OK.

TaskManager doesn't load, or explorer doesn't?0

In TaskManager click the applications tab. Is the IE8 install running or not responding?0
