Cold callers who insist that they're not cold callers!

When I was a student I delivered leaflets for a while. The bosses would phone random houses to see if they had received the leaflet. We would get into trouble if they hadn't EVEN if the person stated they had a no leaflets sign up. We would also have problems because the person would say they hadn't received a leaflet and not explain why (no leaflets sign, letterbox boarded up). So in the end everyone got a leafet.
Well its mainly takeaways. I dont like Pizza, so why should i be pestered with their menus.
If i what a chinese takeaway, i will go to my regular takeaway.
If any of them called me to see if i got their leaflet then i would class this as harassment ( junk mail followed by cold called by phone)0 -
The apartment buildings on my road don't have letterboxes on the outside. So the takeaway leaflets end up being dropped on the doorstep (usually about twice as many leaflets as there are flats in the building).
If they're not picked up within an hour or so they start migrating down the steps and into the street where they get strewn about making the whole place look a mess.
So now if I see any leaflets left on the doorstep I make a point of walking along the whole road and picking them all up and putting them in the recycling. If the takeaways they are advertising were closer I might be tempted to wander in with them and scatter them about so the owners can see what they're doing to my street, from the comfort of their own business :think:0 -
Q. How do you confuse Jehovah's Witness cold callers?
A. Answer the door and say "Come In!"0 -

Do they really believe that they will get a sale that way? Having said that, a frequent opening gambit is 'don't worry, I'm not selling anything'. If the first thing someone says is a lie then they're on a hiding to nothing.
I had a bet with one cold caller that they were selling stuff........ In the end he was backing away down the drive while I was shouting "SEE........SEE!!!!!!! I TOLD YOU YOU WERE SELLING STUFF"
was rather gratifying.
Mostly these days, I look out the window to see who it is and then just ignore it.0 -

Or even worse, kids come along and use them to light fires.0 -

Had a phone conversation with someone who started by saying:
"Hello, I'm not selling anything"
"Why not?"
"Well er I'm not"
"Why are you phoning me and not trying to sell me anything?"
"Er umm"
"Goodbye"If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Find out if your area is in a no cold calling zone and if it is, get their details and pass onto TS0
