Woo hoo!! It won't be long now!!
Regarding the job thing, I can see why people can get settled. Where I live there isn't a lot of industry and to get a full time, permanent, decent paying job is quite rare so I can understand why people would find one and then just stick with it so they have a guarantee of a monthly income. Realistically for me to progress in my industry I would have to move. In theory this is possible but in reality I don't want to leave here. I love where we live and hubby's family live here. This is where we want to make our home. So in all likelihood I'll never progress as far as I could, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice so I can continue to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. I do like my job though so it's not like I'm hating every single day. :j0 -
I live in an area where there are definitely opportunities but I know many friends who just won't jump. My sister has had her job for over 20 years and has refused to go for the promotion to the next level several times, despite being awesome at her job. She would make a fantastic line manager. I guess I just don't understand it.
Totally getting what you're saying, wegle. We have been told we're mad several times for moving to the UK rather than the US. The grass isn't always greener and we both love England and especially the town we live in. Not a chance of moving to the US when North Yorkshire has such a grip on us!
