Lol! C-R, I think we might need an intervention for you and this childhood character problem.....:D. Did hubster notice the funky banana bread or did he just scarf it all without looking at it?!

Oh no! We ate all the scones as we had a friend over and they were darn good! Next time I will post pics for you - we make scones a lot. Lemon blueberry is a good combo too.

Think it's going to be an early night for me - really tired and more than ready for bed. G'night my fellow DFWs.........okay, so I might hop over to the baking thread before tucking myself into bed.....:)

Lol! Well the scone recipe comes from the cookbook I wrote up in school for Home Ec when I was 12!!! I use it quite a lot and the scones are fab. Here's the recipe with a little tweaking:

8oz self raising flour (don't buy cheap flour - it does make a difference)
2oz cold butter (feel this out - you often need a little more)
Grated cheese OR 1oz sugar plus dried fruit of choice
    Milk
    Egg
    Pinch of salt

Sieve flour and pinch of salt.

Cut up butter and rub into flour until consistency of breadcrumbs.

Add cheese OR sugar and dried fruit.

Add enough milk to form dough (add any flavoring at this point also).

Pat onto floured surface until a little deeper than the depth of a butter knife and cut with fluted cutter. Place on baking tray lined with grease proof paper and brush with beaten egg.

Bake in preheated oven at 230 degrees Celcius until golden brown on top.

I say that about the flour because when I replaced our flour after the nightmare incident with the crumble, I insisted on buying the best flour (I would normally buy the cheap stuff) and the scones were soooo much nicer today. Very light. I also always insist on using real salted butter. Never touch the fake stuff. I figure my body knows what to do with butter......unfortunately that means depositing it on my @r$e but hey ho......:D

Well here we are with another Monday morning and another unGodly early start! I am feeling absolutely anti-work this morning but I am grateful for a full time job that doesn't pay too horribly......of course, I'll be making some serious improvements in the next couple of years to that! Never have understood why some people seem to settle in a job and then remain in it for decades even if they don't like it and they know they can do better elsewhere......don't get it! I've always been the kind of person who is looking around for the next opportunity. I'll give my all to what I do, but ultimately I need as many pennies coming in as I can get and if a good opportunity raises its head, I'll be seriously weighing my options.

Not that I am considering leaving this one just yet! Been there 3 months and really do love it! But a year down the line, having passed one salary review, may be another story. We shall see.

Should be a good day though and hubster's payday is Wednesday so that's something to look forward to.......even if it is all allocated to bills already! :D Also still waiting to hear about the possible jewellery sale.......oh pleeeeeeease universe! And the money should definitely hit my US account today so I can arrange the transfer to the cc!! Oooooohhhh happy day!!!!

Happy debt busting Monday to everyone! :)
