Yeah normally I'd be unhappy too but I spent the day doing mentally untaxing tasks which also meant I wasn't sat staring at a computer screen wishing the phone would ring.

Could be worse, you could be sat at a screen wishing the phone would stop ringing...

Yes the credit card being paid off would be good news but it is dependany on my not spending too much on drinking at the wedding of a friend who tells me she never has such a bad hangover three days later as when we go out together!

Perhaps all her other friends are just *really* lightweight... ;)

Yup its rubbish, but I figure if the credit card is gone, the smaller balance card is on a rate for life so can make over payments as and when without worrying about the rate going up,

    What's the rate now?

but I don't need to save as much towards the fees to move up here so it won't take as long, and if I can keep saving while I temp shouldn't take long once I've a perm job again (maybe two months so I've a cushion) esp as I won't have to be spending much on furnishings since I have pretty much everything I'd need already.

But you'll have to buy loads of soft furnishings, as the carpet won't match the cushions... :rotfl:

What do you normally go for? House or flat?

I'd prefer a house and round here I could afford to rent a 3 bed detatched for the same as I was paying for a 1 bed flat down south! But I'll go with whatevers avaliable when I'm actually looking - as long as theres somewhere for the car and it's near somewhere I can run offroad I'm good.

Soft furnishings? I do tend to go for the kids crayon box exploded look so nothing ever actually matches by design ;)

I prefer to live places where there's no traffic. Place I lived before this was ideal. If you saw 6 cars in a row, it was either:
    1. Rush hour.
    2. A funeral.

However, work moved and so did I...

I'm surprised. Even my cushions match(ish) the curtains. :A

OK...the furry leopardskin cushions don't - but we'll ignore them for now... :rotfl:

So we won't be seeing you at the Ideal Home exhibition any time soon then?

Highly unlikely - given my sofa is blue, and my cushions are Nemo, Mr Ray, Jaqcues (Little Mermaid), Spongebob Squarepants and the boring ones are orange and the rug I used in the flat was scarlet......

Admittedly I did swop the thin brown curtains the landlady put up for lined duck egg blue ones so they nearly matched the sofa.

Yup down south I was paying £695 for a one bed flat whereas within a short distance from my parents I could rent something like http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-32748031.html Although it doesnt have off road parking the road it's on is quiet enough that I'd be happy to park on it.

It would be difficult to think of a theme that would match with those... :rotfl:

My sofa is a mustardish yellow one which I got from my parents. I wouldn't match *that* colour even if I could...

Unfortunately, my previous 3 piece didn't fit in the previous house (or this one). You'll probably never know what a shame *that* was.

I'm paying £550 for a bog-standard 3 bed semi in a quiet road. Rightmove keep trying to tempt me with things like this: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-44494585.html but it would mean moving back to where I lived previously.

Nope, a workman who came in to the flat actually asked if a one bed wasn't a bit small for me and my child.....I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd chosen the toys as cushions. :D

I can see how that would be tempting, I know when I come to move out again I'll most likely be moving out of the area my parents are in as it is an expensive area, but as its fairly easy to find rural areas on the outskirts of town which are cheaper but still reasonable to live in I know I can pay alot less for a decent place. But it'll be a while before I'm in a position to start looking for anywhere so I'll go back to pretending rightmove doesn't exist.

Don't worry about affordability! Property !!!!!! is socially acceptable now... ;)

See the interior design faux-pas of the rich as they make a settee out of dalmatians, or accidentally embed a tree in the ceiling...

Yes but I prefer not to torture myself with the idea of the things I could have in my home if I had a home of my own....

Just thought to log in to paypal and found that I'd £80 in there so have withdrawn it to my bank account.

    Like what?

Rightmove do a "My Home Ideas" thing now, where you can do a "scrapbook" of pictures. That should be right up your street... ;)

The only interior decorating thing I've ever seen that I've thought: "Oooh - that looks good!" was someone had painted one of their ceilings in a zebra stripe.

Completely tasteless I know - but right up my street... :rotfl:

Erm like more than one room to call my own and a not having to share a bathroom and kitchen....

Nope that sounds pretty fun as a room plan to me too - perfect for staring up at when !!!!ed and hoping the stripes aren't moving :D
