Fast reader, unusually so apparently, my primary school used to have my parents ask me questions about the reading books they sent me home with as I got through them so quickly. If I've a spare couple of hours I can get through a fairly 'standard' (250-350 pages of average sized print) length paperback with no distractions. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I would have been affronted if my parents had done that to me. They knew exactly how fast I read.
The XOH once tried testing me. I "passed" but was affronted...scubaangel wrote: »If I've a spare couple of hours I can get through a fairly 'standard' (250-350 pages of average sized print) length paperback with no distractions.
That must have been expensive in the pre-internet days. Fast reading is a double-edged sword; handy for when you want to know things, but sucks like a sucking thing for when you want to be entertained.
Now it's freebie city. Just takes 2 days and RSI to click on 10,000 free books... :rotfl:"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

The school didn't believe I really read them, it was a pain but as I knew I had read them it didn't bother me half as much as it bothered my parents having to check the book I had was the one which matched the questions the teacher sent home with it.
I've always been a library fan, and rarely buy books new, mine are almost always charity shop finds or second hand from amazon, although as a student my tips from working in the nightclub were spent on my weekly bus pass and buying me books from tesco in the days when there were lots of very recently dropped out of the chart books on offer.
Took a bit longer than 2 days but can't argue with the RSI :rotfl:It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Wow...that would have got real old, real fast...scubaangel wrote: »I've always been a library fan, and rarely buy books new, mine are almost always charity shop finds or second hand from amazon,
Pre-internet days, I used to get all the Enid Blytons etc from second-hand bookshops. There weren't the endless fields of Charity Shops in those days though.scubaangel wrote: »although as a student my tips from working in the nightclub were spent on my weekly bus pass and buying me books from tesco in the days when there were lots of very recently dropped out of the chart books on offer.
Never really liked the range that supermarkets offered. It was always the most populist stuff which I had no interest in - like "Bouncy bouncy - an autobiography by Jordan. (and some other woman who actually wrote it)"scubaangel wrote: »Took a bit longer than 2 days but can't argue with the RSI :rotfl:
Longer than 2 days? You weren't wasting your time by eating or anything in the meanwhile were you? :rotfl:"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Had the phone call this morning I didn't really want, the HR woman told them that I'm not needed next week (although the guy I reported to in the company thought I was going to be needed) so the agency are going to check Monday morning and let me know if I need to go in or not - need to pop over there at some point as I forgot to pick up my mug when I left on Friday.
But if I'm not needed there the agency think they've an industrial role I can jump on to (if I'm willing) if they've not got another admin role come in at short notice.
Of course work is work and I'm not going to be too proud to take an industrial role if they're willing to send me. Not to mention that keeping a good agency happy is always a good plan - esp as I know they handle a fair few permanent roles as well as the temp stuff. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Yes, best to get it confirmed. Many a slip 'twixt cup and lip as they say...scubaangel wrote: »But if I'm not needed there the agency think they've an industrial role I can jump on to (if I'm willing)

I get the impression its one of their long term contracts for several people and they've people coming and going from it regularly depending on other work. But at the end of the day I want to be working, and they have work they think I'd be capable of doing, worst that can happen is I hate it but stick it out for a couple of weeks until they can find me something else/I find myself something else.
Need to update my CV properly and get it uploaded to the usual job sites just in case I have to start proving my job hunting to the job centre again.
In small happy moments for online earning encrave on swagbucks is working for me again so that'll be a few more points in to my account towards my next redemption and my last £25 redemption hit my paypal account this morning. Need to log in to that and transfer the money out to my bank account this week.
Also had a quick check of the mystery shopping sites, no work worth applying for on there for this week but until I know for sure if I'll be working or not next week probably best that I don't start booking anything just in case,It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Exactly. Keeps you off the streets, away from the Job Centre and keeps those pennies rolling in.scubaangel wrote: »Need to update my CV properly and get it uploaded to the usual job sites just in case I have to start proving my job hunting to the job centre again.
Also you'll need it up to date if you want to get better work.scubaangel wrote: »In small happy moments for online earning encrave on swagbucks is working for me again so that'll be a few more points in to my account towards my next redemption and my last £25 redemption hit my paypal account this morning. Or buy something off ebay (before they lose your details again...)scubaangel wrote: »Also had a quick check of the mystery shopping sites, no work worth applying for on there for this week but until I know for sure if I'll be working or not next week probably best that I don't start booking anything just in case,
Yes indeed. Hopefully you won't need an extra trip to fetch your mug."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

No buying required at the moment, mainly I ought to be selling since the piles of clutter seem to be getting overwhelming again since I've been having a search for my passport.
All the usual hiding places have been checked so I've given up for a few days, if I'm not working I'll spend an afternoon searching the usual places again, before I start thinking about less usual places for it, like my Mums house.
In the meantime I've spent most of today going surveys, am now in need of 200 points to redeem on globaltestmarket, which is good as I find qualifying for their surveys comes in cycles, so hopefully I'll have a few weeks of qualifying for plenty of them so I can redeem (1000points is worth roughly £30 from memory and thats the lowest threshold).
Surprisingly I'm closer to pay out on onepoll than I thought too, just short of £32, so need to earn another £8 from their low paid but fairly numerous surveys. Ideally I'll get both in June so the money can cover my credit card payment in July, and if I'm working they'll be small over payments towards them. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Well when was the last time you used it? I've found I use my passport far more in this country for proving who I am, than in other people's countries.
