So it's uphill pretty much every way you turn, and then the council made it a wheelchair-accessible route? I miss the independence I had, if not the hours and extortionate rent. But the more time I'm spending in my home town the more run down and unwelcoming it feels as a long term place to stay in.
You're footloose and fancy free. You can go anywhere. Or even stay - if you choose. You need to find somewhere where the difference between your earnings and your fixed expenses is the greatest.
I think this survey kind of had it right in its approach.
So you could go South and pay through the nose for housing etc, or go North, earn less, but end up with more disposable income. Even then you could balance it - go South, but not too far.
It depends on you and your priorities.

Sounds like a good idea. Take advantage of not having nutty shifts while you can."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Completely inept would cover 98% of things the local council do. The other 2% is successful by happy accident. I think they got grants to make the countryside disabled friendly and that path is among the easiest they could work on given the area is all hills, reserviors and moorland.
I work on the assumption it has a flat base, if not I hope the lid is watertight or I just can't ever put it down.....
The Cenotaph plan means I have to find a suitable outfit, am sure I have a smartish black dress I can wear with heels or my warm flat black boots, most of my friends will be trousers, regimental blazers/berets etc so I don't want to be the scruffy oik next to them (well no more than usual) as I didn't keep the beret from my final unit and can't really wear that capbadge with my original blue beret. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

They tried with the reservoir first...

Not until you've finished anyway, or you can find a [STRIKE]victim[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]sucker[/STRIKE] volunteer to hold it for you.scubaangel wrote: »The Cenotaph plan means I have to find a suitable outfit, am sure I have a smartish black dress I can wear with heels or my warm flat black boots, most of my friends will be trousers, regimental blazers/berets etc so I don't want to be the scruffy oik next to them (well no more than usual) as I didn't keep the beret from my final unit and can't really wear that capbadge with my original blue beret.

No that looks more like something the private Sailing Club on the reservior would manage.
I know there's a dress somewhere I just haven't unpacked it yet
Apparently my Nana is better today, not great but better which is a relief, so am going to go see her again tomorrow with my Aunt. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Found the dress - it was in a duffle bag with my spare thermals for diving. :?
Had two small wins today - won a book on goodreads and game for my phone on twitter.
Also had a post office red card (I swear the postie doesnt bother with the doorbell) which could be the cannonball or one of the books I'm waiting for.

The often don't - was it watchdog that did an expose a little while ago?scubaangel wrote: »which could be the cannonball or one of the books I'm waiting for.
If it's the cannon ball, then the Auntie Terrorism unit probably wants a word..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

The dry suit is the same one I've been wearing since I was 14, it's somewhat tighter than it used to be, but is still dry (when I've not made holes in the seals or been having a knife fight with my buddy while bored on a safety stop), so I still use it, but I have to wear relatively thin thermal layers now, typically a set of helly hansen thermals or a set of waterproof thermals - depends which smells least offensive or is easier to find in the cupboard.
We'e never had much trouble here but then given my surname is the same as one of my neighbours often parcels for me have been left with them when we've not been home to recieve them, only now shes in hospital and I'm visiting daily so the postie can't leave it there if he can't get me to open the door.
Let Auntie come have a chat, it'll be a distraction from my daily visits to the hospital where my Nana is getting steadily weaker.

Probably the only thing that would still fit me from then would be watch and hat.
Though I do have a coat from when I was 16/17 and it still fits. From about 12 to 16 was expensive in clothing for me.scubaangel wrote: »it's somewhat tighter than it used to be, but is still dry (when I've not made holes in the seals or been having a knife fight with my buddy while bored on a safety stop),

Make sure she's getting fed and watered properly. It was (and still is) an ongoing scandal in the hospitals."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

She doesn't remember eating or not but her nurses keep a record as alot of her meds need to be taken with food. She's drinking plenty but rather grumpy as she can't get tea on demand and is stuck with water most of the time. We think it's rather ironic that the woman born in a pub is tee-total while the rest of the family is very definitely not.
As for the underwater knife fighting - why not, I've only ever had to replace my drysuit boots after having them sliced open, but with a membrane suit its much easier to repair than a neoprene one would be.

Just make sure the record is what food she's eaten. Not what food she has been presented with. The two are not the same from the patient's POV.scubaangel wrote: »She's drinking plenty but rather grumpy as she can't get tea on demand and is stuck with water most of the time.

Shame duck tape doesn't work too well underwater. Usually fixes *everything*..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
