    OMG your right!

In fact you could spend pretty much anything.

why OMG, it's a Budgeting loan for normal household expensies, it's not a benefit, people on the dole have to live normalish lives too, it's paid back so get over yourself.

I have to pay the money back so I don't see why it's a problem, I have to watch something, furniture is not something you can't live without but it allows for that so why not a sky box.

Now I know you are having a laugh. You can't live without a sky box?

And yes, I know you have to pay it back but it is interest free.

Save yourself some money and look on Freecycle for one or put a wanted ad on Freecycle.

where do I say I can't live without a sky box?

Things break, if you are on the dole your dole money is not meant to cover that, that is why they have budgeting loans.

Please don't class everyone the same that is on the dole, I have worked all my life, I want to work now, but I would still like to keep up my home in good repair and watch TV, is that too much to ask, especially when I'm paying the money back at over £8 a week, add in CC, water rates, gas electric, believe me I do not have any money left to go out drinking, TV is my only enjoyment, I would like to stay reasonable with the rest of the human race whilst I look for work.

that's what I have...well freesat but it needs a box still and they cost money, they don't come up on ebay or the free sites much and if they do not for cheap money, I can't get freeview where I am, that is why I have freesat.

Check gumtree, ranging from £10 up to more than £10, most way less than £100. Obvioulsy dont know your area but worth a try.
  • Some of these replies are honestly pathetic. Just because the Poster is a Jobseeker you instantly look down on them and criticize them? So what if they need it for a Sky Box? I couldn't care less if they wanted £300 for a fancy weekend away somewhere, they're entitled to applying for a Budget Loan as much as anyone else on Jobseekers and they correctly said they will be paying it back. A lot of you need to get down off your god damn high horses. The posters parents have probably worked all their lives in this country and paid taxes, so who the hell cares? I don't. Please apply for more than the £100 and enjoy yourself.

    Peace.

Here is my opinion, how the hell can someone afford Sky Digital on a low income like JSA? I am currently on Jobseekers and I can't afford sky or virgin media.

You are susposed to be looking for work, not getting sky! I have talktalk with phone, broadband and they tv (youview box) all for £20.95 a month now that is much better and I can afford that, but sky and virgin media are total rip-offs and cost to much

Why get sky when loads of repeats on all the time? its not worth the money, anyway back to the subject I am single and my budgeting loan amount is £348 :)
  • My husband is 58 years old and redundant for the second time.
We'll be keeping our Sky on JSA.
    He doesn't drink or smoke.
What people spend money on is their own business.
    Leave the OP alone!

do you ever read the thread before commenting? as you seem to always jump in feet first and get it so wrong.

If you had read the thread you will see I get FREEsat from a sky satallite dish, the clue is in the name FREEsat I do not pay for it but it still needs a box to run it.
