and as for your comment about how much time and love a baby would get from it's anonymous donor daddy, do you also concern yourself with the amount of time and love a child gets in other single parent enviroments, surely if you believe that a child can not get enough time and love from a woman who does not know the father of her child then surely this is the case for any woman who has had a child when she was raped, or any woman who has decided that she no longer wants the father in their lives, or any woman who has litterally been left holding the baby whilst daddy if off somewhere else - there are so many single parents out there doing an amazing job and who give their children so much time and love, in some cases the children do not know the other parent for whatever reason, are you saying that these children are disadvantaged as you seem to be
thats not what was meant by my comment at all, as im sure your quite aware but as ive noticed you so love to play devils advocate ... i will play along.
having been a child of a one parent family AND having been the parent in one aswell, i think your starting on the wrong person here,
I never said any of the other kids in your scenarios were disadvantaged because they only had one parent, infact i hate people using the "broken home" excuse for anything.
obviously any child born as a result of a rape is better off without the man responsible as a father, as are many whos dad is abusive but these kids are not the majority,
many single parent family children have a lot to do with thier dads, my 7 year olds father may not live with us anymore and he may work away with very little contact for 6 months of the year but they have a great relationship and i wouldnt have it any other way...
us splitting up wasnt the way i imagined things woud go when we had her... but as broody as i have been in my life i wouldnt have been so selfish to have brought a child into the world any way possible just because i felt like it.
mother nature isnt stupid....babies are made by two people for a reason,
yes it can be done, but that doesnt mean it should be.
what i clearly was saying is having a baby by sperm donor is hardly the way to do things just because you want a baby no matter what. The child has no paternal identity, no family history... and important information like this carries on being needed for generations (trust me, there are massive gaps that will NEVER be filled in my family history and it effects everything... right down to pregnancy questionaires for genetic diseases)0
