Finding Clothes for a larger 11 year old

I agree with the suggestion about wearing adult sized T shirts, she might fit into a medium or even a small adult T shirt no problem
Ive never found Primark sizing to be on the small side, havent shopped there for a few years but always found them ok. I think H and Ms clothes can also be cut on the small side.
If you dont want to spend a fortune, try some of the pound shops, am sure poundstretcher if theres one near you will do T shirts, poundland do now and then and possibly poundworld as well, saves you spending a lot of money if her shape is still changing.
Sports direct also do kids clothes, theres one in my town, but sometimes the online prices are cheaper and the delivery isnt very expensive either.0 -
I was tall when I was 11 although I had no boobs (which my teen diaries will testify was much to my upset) I did have quite broad hips. I used to get clothes from New Look and my mum used to police my choices from the adult range so they weren't TOO adult. They do lots of character tee shirts which are more aimed at young girls I think even though they come in bigger adult sizes. I still get my clothes from there now as I like their clothes I just pick slightly more grown up choices now

Gigglepig - What do you want her to wear during these few weeks whilst she loses weight if her current clothes don't fit.
Victory - I thought bhs generous fit was just school uniform? Do they do other clothes in this too?
Yes they do although mine is for boys and the name escapes me have to google it ...0 -
OP, it might be helpful if you could give some idea of the problem - i.e. daughters height, clothes size and problem areas? Also what clothes you are looking for, e.g. school clothes, casual, dressy. It makes a difference to the advice given. For example, someone has suggested leggings which TBF, look awful on people over a certain size (myself included:o).
I was overweight at that age, but I wasn't fat ( 5ft 4 and a size 14), so bigger than my peers and out of children's clothes sizes but able to buy mainstream adult clothes for school etc. It's hard to suggest things without knowing these few basic fats.
ETA - Top Shop go up to size 16 and New Look do Plus sizes but their main range goes up to size 18. You might have to look to find something suitable for an 11 year old among their ranges but you can't go wrong with t-shirts, tops and denim.0 -

Thank you; she's OK for school things, most of it has to have the "official" school badge on it and we've managed to get everything to fit! She did have to go up to a size 14 in school skirts though!
It's mainly just comfortable, casual clothes she doesn't need anything dressy because we never go anywhere that needs it!
We're having problems getting things to fit around the chest and around the waist, also she hates anything tight fitting round her tummy (like skinny t-shirts etc) and TBF I think she wouldn't like this even if she was thinner.
She's a bit like her mum, she tends to go for comfort over style!0 -

I think sports direct would be well worth a look, clothes arent expensive and a large range of sizes0 -
DD is 10 and I've bought afew "adult" t-shirts for her in a size 6 from Primark and New Look and they've fitted so I'm sure the OP's DD would fit into the same sort of tops but in a larger size. My DD is 142cm tall (not sure what that converts to in feet and inches) and has a little bit of boobage going on (much to my disgust - she's too young!!!!).
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
Hi op, have a look at gap (my friend got some lovely stuff for her overweight 12yr old) and http://www.sturdykids.co.uk/ and http://www.landsend.co.uk/Girls/Tops/ix-5943?q=children and another thumbs up for sports direct too

Yes, so has my 10 yo daughter, who is 135cm and weighs less than 5 stone. Her and her 6 month older (lot taller) friend put balls down their tops a few months back (as you do.......) and wanted to know why DD's looked more realistic! DD had a bikini that started digging in, ok it was age 9 and she'd had it a while, then same friend came they wanted to play in a pool and friend had no swimwear so dd suggested she put bikini on. Was convinced it wouldn't fit cos if it didn't fit DD, anyway was proved wrong, Friend is taller and not as much developing figure. That's how I know it's about the child's shape around this age.DD is 10 and I've bought afew "adult" t-shirts for her in a size 6 from Primark and New Look and they've fitted so I'm sure the OP's DD would fit into the same sort of tops but in a larger size.
