    I've been Money Tipped!
    Got one today.
I'd be gutted if I'd paid £50 for it but for £25 it's a bargain. It takes a while and a lot of squeezing the trigger to get it to glide across a floor. It leaves a matt finish on my floorboards. Easily solved by adding some floorboard specific cleaner to the water reservoir.

My husband has told me to take it back, he says it works okay but no better than a mop and bucket which he pointed out doesn't require expensive consumables unlike the Vax.

put a mop on floor then back in the water and you have dirty water, this is constant clean steam. no need to then carry a dirty bucket of water and pour down the drain. this uses far less water, so you are saving on the cost of that. no chemicals, so saving on the cost of detergents, quicker drying time, less physical effort for thise with mobility issues and all actually, washable microfibre cloths unlike mope heads but yeah your husband is right,, its no better than a mop and bucket.

if you brought a used mop back to my shop because youd changed your mind id say tough, lucky if argos accept it.

I used my Vax mop today and while it does the job ok it isnt a patch on my Shark steam mop.
But for £25 I am keeping it to use upstars, saves us carrying the Shark. x

expensive consumables really ???? What like water ??

A bottle of flash is around a pound and it wouldn't last me a week.

But if your hubby insists make him doing the mopping and the buying of the cleaning stuff to go in it.

This mop would pay for itself in a matter of weeks.

True, but with the steam mop unless you are taking off the microfibre cover and washing it every few seconds the dirt on it is being dragged round and round the floor, so not exactly perfect either.

What consumables does it require? The main reason I'm considering buying a steam mop is that it only uses water and not chemicals. I know there is a Vax which can use detergent but even so if you filled that container with water also it would no doubt work without the need to buy anything extra.

Is it your husband that uses the mop & bucket?

New microfibre pads - the one supplied will soon get grey and threadbare and as we live in a hard water area the hardwater filter will need changing regularly.

You also have the cost of the electricity, appliances that produce heat are general high electricity consumers.

Yes he does the kitchen and bathroom tiled floors with a mop and bucket , I do everywhere else (carpets and hardwood)

  • Love mine but must admit that the first time I tried it I wasn't too impressed as it took ages to use as really hard to push on my kitchen tiled stone floor, but second time I used it was really good so much faster and quicker than mop and bucket and floor is much cleaner too

I put a bit of zoflora in my water tank which smells great

I guess some peoples glasses are half empty and some half full !!

Microfiber mop heads are £5.00 for a multiple pack in b and m and are pennies on Ebay, hardwater isn't a problem tbh just put boiled water in. (assuming that's what you do to mop otherwise your floors in cold water would be rank)

as for the leccy honestly its only pennies, I don't feel your critisim of the product is not constructive its more the fact you don't like it which is your choice.

it is what is it a bargain for £25 any more then its a no non. I have been using steam to clean for years, wouldn't go back.
