I've been trying to distract myself and kept trying to keep a positive frame of mind, he'll be back soon etc, but now one of my cats has been missing since early yesterday morning :(. He's only 11 months old and I'm so worried. We've contacted Pet log as we are a premium member and they've issued an alert to local vets (30 mile radius) my OH checked the immediate neighbourhood several times yesterday and today we registered him missing on missing pet sites and contacted local animal rescue centres on the off chance he's been taken in. I'm just wondering if there's anything else we should do? We've checked our sheds and the whole house, I'm just so scared and upset right now it's so out of character :(. My other cat (his brother) is very stressed as well, he keeps meowing and looking around for my other cat :(. Any advice or experiences or just words of comfort would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I know what you are going through (my two are actually at the vets today both having tooth operations under full anesthetic and I'm quite distracted).
Toby vanished several years ago for nearly a week and by coincidence we contacted the vet in case he had been brought in. The receptionist knew a volunteer at the RSPCA and recognized the description - so we got him back.
Our neighbours lost their burmese for 8 months! and then he found his way home (he had recently moved with them and went wandrring).
so i suggest calling all vets and usual animal care places.
also - maybe flyers through the doors of nearby houses if you haven't spoken to them personally?

    Really hope he turns up.

If it is at all reassuring cats do sometimes just take themselves off for a while. I know it is worrying, though.

I would say get a picture of the cat on facebook and get people sharing it. Our local Cats Protection and SSPCA are great at sharing this on their pages but get it on local area pages too (facebay etc). I've seen loads of pets reunited with their owners through facebook.

Other than that I've seen it suggested that dumping the contents of your vacuum cleaner in the garden can help them find their way home if they are a little lost.

Good luck, I hope he is home soon.

Thanks, we'll try posters and leaflets, and knocking on doors. It's so very worrying isn't it :(. We'll also try more rescue centres.

I hope your two are all well and good after their vet visit.

I normally go round the neighbours asking if people have seen him/ can they check their sheds/garages and stick a note through those I don't see. I just saw my next door neighbour who told us their cat went missing 6 weeks ago and I find it amazing they hadn't mentioned it to us sooner.

cats are also pretty resilient - might just be shut in some where or having an explore, even. fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed he will come back. When my cats were younger they often did vanishing acts - the longest was for 4 days and he just came home through the cat flap as if nothing had happened.

There are lots of tips on here from past threads like this which suggest things like emptying your hoover bag in your back garden to encourage him to come back etc sorry I don't know how to link to them.

    Good luck xx

I really hope he turns up. If its any reassurance I have had 2 cats go missing - one for 3 weeks and one for 3 days, both came back absolutely fine (maybe a bit hungry) Could you ask your immediate neignbours and check they haven't shut any sheds/garages that he may be stuck in? You could also ask them to keep a look out in case they see him scavenging for food?
I have my fingers crossed for you x

Offer a reward to paperboys if you are in an area that still has them. Also postmen. Posters in local school work well, kids should be back next week.

    Good luck.

Sorry to hear this ineed :(...hopefully he'll come in soon, like nothing's happened, screaming to be fed :)

My mog, who's a real homelover, went missing for a couple of days a few years back, I looked everywhere...two days later he strolled in, bold as brass.

He'd never disappeared before that, or since.

My bet is on kitty being shut in somewhere, as suggested. Especially in this weather, with people keeping doors open, getting gardening stuff in and out of sheds etc.

Hope he turns up soon :)

Ask your neighbours to check their sheds /outbuildings while you wait, people can easily get distracted and forget. Poster further than you think your cat would go, and use FaceBook if you have it, most areas have a missing/lost pets page.

Good luck, hope you find him soon.
