    To clear things up.

    1) the car was sold by Tradecarsdirectuk. Intitially saw the advert on auto trader on line but when googling info about the car the advert also came up on ebay - original advert here if it shows - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-CHRYSLER-PT-CRUISER-2-0-CLASSIC-FULL-MOT-TAXED-/271249969415?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3f27c21107&nma=true&si=DTjGpZE8ze7%252BB%252FPtmSQh360%252B3Z0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

    2) The seller took the car to the garage for MOT in a local village that is constantly changing hands for ownership even though the exact same staff are always present. Details from their website states - This is a class 4, MOT Centre. Its VTS Number is 55808.

    3) the garage it is sitting in now is an independant family run centre with a good reputation in the town they aren't linked to any chains such as Citroen/Renault etc.

    4) I didn't ask for comments such as Horizons about being paid to take the car away. I may have chosen the car but it was a gift from my dad after my previous car died beyond repair.

    5) Current quote for repairs are in the region of £300, £68 each for suspension parts, £11 each for linkage, labour for that then 1.5hours labour for brakes to be stripped off, cleaned then replaced on car. No charge for replacing the number plate as we had already had one made just needed attaching to car and not charging for indicator bulbs which have had to be special ordered.

SHE DRIVES SUPERB WITH NO ISSUES AND SHE IS VERY LOW MILEAGE WITH FULL HISTORY.

Make the seller pay for the repairs under SOGA or reject the car. Don't allow the new garage to do any work.

    .

Then as Joe has said, they can't write that on the car it infringes your rights and it isn't mentioned in the advert at all that this car is a spares/repair.

I would get a copy of the advert too (use snipping tool to save the image of the web page if you haven't had to do this before)
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Wouldn't have a clue where to start? :o

From what is now being said it is too late to claim anything towards repairs as it is already in the process of repair. I rely heavily on having a car with a disabled husband and a daughter whom i have to get to work daily until she passes her test as there are no forms of public transport to her work place.

Also it was a cash sale as my dad went to the bank to withdraw the money same day. The seller meerly ended the sale on ebay it wasn't a case that i expressed interest via the advert/ made an offer etc. My husband rang the number and asked for a viewing, had a test drive with my dad in the car and then arranged to purchase it.

Assuming you are on a PC click the start button and then just type "Snipping Tool" into the search bar at the bottom. It's a great wee thing that lets you take screen grabs.

You can always press ALT and the PrtScn button too. You then need to open something like Paint and paste the image in there. Snipping Tool is much easier.

Just in case you need it in future!

    You bought an old banger.
it is not a brand new car, it was a poor car when they were new, never mind after 13 years.
Most have low mileage, as they never ran.
If you want a new car, take one out on finance.
What do you expect a 13 year old car to be like, especially one of these sheds, you can pick them up at any auctions for £150-£500.
    Be happy...;)

Roadworthy in the condition it was sold in not a death trap? Or am i expecting too much from a second hand car?

Im not in a position to take out finance on a car not that this is a factor with the questions i have asked regarding this car.

So for £300 you get the car you want, in good condition to drive.
I'd pay the £300 and move on. There is a whole world of difference between knowing your rights and getting any money back off the seller.

The seller should have been given the opportunity to rectify any faults, they will argue that they could have done it cheaper in their own garage. If you make them take the car back, they won't pay for the repairs you are having done.

Basically they will make you work hard for every penny you get back off them. I suppose you could small claims them for the repair work needed to make it safe to drive, but I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the cash.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
