Where do I start? Well, by explaining that I am able to cook, I'm not bad at it and I've worked in kitchens, ahem :o

However, my list of 'terrible food that shouldn't be eaten but given half a chance, you'll find me on the sofa in my dressing gown growling at anyone who comes near is':

Cheap snacks things like onion rings and cheese puffs
Value jaffa cakes - I'm not sure I even truly chew these, just do an impression of my Vax
Ready made cheese and onion sandwich filler
Battered sausages - You can take the girl from the North, etc
    Gravy granules
"We always find something, hey Didi, to give us the impression we exist?" Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot.
DFW Club number 1212 - Proud to be dealing with my debts

value jaffa cakes. I can eat the whole pack in seconds. Or a double pack of jaffa cakes. Same. :o

I refuse to buy them as they call from the cupboard until I give in. :D

Pot Noodles are my guilty pleasure. I always have one in the cupboard for my teenage granddaughter as it's her 'quick fix', but more often than not I eat it and then have to go out and buy more to replace it!

I almost always use Smash on my cottage pies as every time I use 'proper' potatoes I get "This doesn't taste right, what have you done to it?"

I also use cheap A*da ready made yorkies as, try as I might, my yorkies never rise as much or taste the same. ;)

I agree about Heinz tomato soup being the best, probably because it was the only soup I ever had as a child. Lovely with fresh bread (spread with proper butter) dunked in it.:j

'Plastic' cheese slices melted on baked beans on toast - yummy. Doesn't taste the same with 'proper' cheese sliced or grated on top.

Fish finger sandwiches definitely have to be in sliced white bread with Heinz salad cream. Most stuff I buy is own brand, but my little luxuries are Heinz ketchup, Heinz salad cream, Daddies brown sauce & Hellmans mayo - nothing else tastes as good.;)

Love it... although I actually haven't heard of some of these. To those who said smash sounds _pale_, I defy you to try it properly. Make it with hot milk, add some butter and whisk an egg yolk through it, not too thick though. Best comfort food ever, especially with some sausages and onion.

Sorry, no Smash is just not for me, prefer home made mash with lots of butter and milk or cream.

Instant noodles - the Chinese / Malaysian brands in particular. There used to be an 'ethnic' food store near me that did tom yum soup flavour ones which were  - sadly it's now been replaced by a normal supermarket so no more super-spicy noodles for me. :(

Tomato ketchup - I tried making my own with HG tomatoes a few years ago and it was OK but Not The Same as Heinz. ;)

I went through a stage of having a great fondness for those plastic cheese slices, too - the ones where it's hard to tell the difference between the 'cheese' and the clingfilm they come wrapped in - but I haven't had them in ages so I don't know if I still like them.
Back after a very long break!

I love cheap orange squash! It reminds me of being a child and going to kid's birthday parties- very nostalgic!

I always tell my parents off for eating these kinds of things Stag chilli con carne springs to mind haha
