Im a ftb and just had an offer accepted 2 weeks ago. We looked at loads of houses and my boyfriend and I both had 'a bad vibe' about certain places, or they just werent 'right' for no particular reason. I did tell the ea this when they asked for feedback and I felt bad that I couldnt be more specific. I also felt stupid saying that we didnt like the area as we obviously at least roughly knew where the property was but sometimes it was just a case of the neighbours having 5 dogs barking in the back garden or a house with a broken down motorbike on the drive. Sometimes we just cant be more specific and sometimes it really is nothing to do with your actual property.0

About estate agents.
..... And don't get me started on the fact they've put it on for less than I asked them to....

If they "put it on" for less than you wanted and it still won't sell then perhaps the price is still too high.
Now that is something you can change.
Regardless of the location, a house which is realistically priced will sell all day.
Any chance of a link to the property?0 -

As I said before, they had more interest in the property when it was on for a higher amount. Also, they reduced it for the third time even though I had discussed at length with them to give it more time. I know from when I was looking for properties recently that I was always put off by anything that had been reduced several times in less than two months.
And, as I said before, there was all the other stuff with them that got on my wick.

Anyways, thanks to everyone for their advice.
I am feeling more positive, I just needed to externalise my frustrations this morning. I know it will sell, I just need to keep at it. I am going to change estate agents and try to sell it privately. And fingers crossed the next lot will be people I can work with and who'll be straightforward.

Gosh that's lovely. What 'updating' do they mean? It looks really nice to me.
I know what everyone means about 'vibes', some places just feel right, nothing to do with decor (my current home's was in need of updating all right!!!) but as soon as i walked in I knew I was going to have it, foul 1970s carpet and all!0 -

The kitchen needs a bit of updating, but the rest of it is liveable - more than liveable, in fact. I know because two sets of people rented it out and had no problems. But, like I said, it just needs the right person to come along and fall in love with it as much as I did when I first saw it - when it had royal blue and yellow walls and cat hair-covered carpets.
Anyways, onwards and upwards.

Its lovely! I can see so much potential (not thats its in need of much doing to it). Good luck x0

Giving amusing feedback to estate agents was the only thing that kept me sane when I was flat hunting.
"I didn't like the man slumped in the doorway with the bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken" and "The bullet holes in the car parked outside gave me bad vibes" were a couple of favourites.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -
You've got big butch bodyguard now though Melissa
