trip advisor and sister in law

It's ranked #5 out of 220 hotels in Side which is (imho) no mean feat.
Maybe your sister in law should look at the hotels that are ranked #1, 2, 3 & 4 to see if they may suit her more.
But - and it's a big but - I said this earlier today:
Does she know for certain that she can cancel and get a full refund or at least transfer her booking to a different hotel with no monetary loss?
If she can't do either of those things, all the poring over the 5% negative reviews won't make a blind bit of difference unless she is happy to lose money on this holiday.
thanks but what is 5 out of 220 mean exactly??:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -

It means that there are only four hotels ranked as better than the one she is planning to stay in. In a resort where the other 215 are absolute dives it might not signify much. It would reassure me but might not please your SIL. Some people are impossible to please and seem to go out of their way to create drama when there is no cause for one. Perhaps your SIL is one of those?0

People have different expectations, some people expect to be treated like royalty when on holiday, others expect decent food, manners and cleanliness.
I only judge a hotel on certain things on tripadvisor, cleanliness, complaints about noise if they are frequent, comments about food and whether the staff seemed helpful when things did go wrong. There are always a lot of stupid comments, you'll see people complaining about the airport, the resort, the transfer even the weather, not sure how they expect the hotel to do anything about those! My favourite are people who go abroad and expect the hotel staff to speak fluent English, to serve english food in the hotel and to provide english tv channels, if you want that, don't go abroad!
........or go to an English speaking country (USA, Australia, NZ etc)[0 -

Thanks, I know understand. I don,t think it,s quite that, she is a lovely and fab person but like I said in my previous post she had a disaster of a holiday in 2010 and a bit panicky.
So I can text her, in your eyes this is good going. I had a look at other hotels on SIDE and they ranked 9 out of 220 . Similar percentage:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -

OP, one of my favourite holiday hotels only has 83% on Trip advisor, it's ranked 8th of 44 (Las Marismas de Correlajo, if anyone's interested). We'd be there tomorrow if we could, please tell your sister not to worry.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -

Whenever I've been on a package holiday to somewhere not expensive I've taken the view that if the accommodation is absolutely unsatisfactory it would be quite simple just to book and stay somewhere else. I've never had to but have decamped elsewhere for a few days for a change of scene0
