have done a free trial with ancestry before, found it hard to cancel. ancestry is free to use in your local library and it includes all the locked documents.

I found it very easy to cancel, log in, go to your Account page and there's a box to tick to cancel.

Thanks, I found my grandfather's record while using Ancestry in my local library, but this will let me search at home now for others.

I had paid for my grandfathers medal card from the National Archive but the one on Ancestry had an address which I had not seen before

Be careful - I hadn't used their image viewer before so I downloaded it. Every time I tried to use it, it crashed my system (I'm using Firefox and Windows XP). Stick to the library!
