I've only been on the site a few weeks but it seems most people are pro consumer.
There is nothing wrong with being pro consumer (in fact, as you state, it's the main reason for this whole website), but the problems start when someone is so biased in favour of the consumer that they consistantly just tell posters what they want to hear rather than what their actual rights are.
Giving incorrect information is worse than giving no information at all as it can lead to people asking/demanding something to which they are not entitled which may result in the retailer giving less assistance than they might have done if the customer simply asked for something that they were legally entitled to.0 -
Well, I don't know what to make of things now.
John Lewis were supposed to send my ipad to apple today, instead the guy that booked it in rang while I was at work, seems he decided for reasons unknown to try and fix it, he set the whole thing back to factory settings and happily told my daughter that he'd fixed it! Doesn't he think I haven't already tried that! It puts it right for a few days, when my daughter pointed that out to him he just replied that there was no point in sending it to apple now because he'd fixed it!
The thing I'm most annoyed about is, when I dropped it off it was to be sent to apple, that was the agreement, I'm surprised that this guy has taken it upon himself to actually mess on with it!
So now I'll collect an ipad that will be back to square one in about a week!

Actually to book anything with Apple they go through diagnostics over the phone with you before they will arrange any repair. If to them and JL this is deemed to have fixed the issue they are not going to then collect it for repair.
If it works fine for a few days after a software reset it is unlikely to be a hardware fault with the iPad. Could it be one of the apps installed causing the problem?
If you keep installing the same things all the time then the same problem with occur every time. Try using it for a few days with just the preinstalled apps (so basically music, videos and web browser) if the sleep button is fine then it is something being installed causing it. If the sleep button still goes then you know it's more of a fault but at least now Apple have a record of the call to diagnose it so are more likely to pick for repair next time.0 -

Apple repaired it the first time and said it was the button itself.
I don't have a lot of apps on it, just use it for reading books and looking on the Internet.
