I bought an ipad about 7 months ago from John Lewis, in June I had to take it back because of a problem with the sleep button, it was away about 3 weeks. Today I've had to take it back again due to the same problem.
Thing is, the guy said to me today that apple don't consider repairing them as cost productive so they'll probably just give me a reconditioned one, I'm not happy about getting a reconditioned one back, after all I could have bought a reconditioned one in the first place. I've also got a screen protector on it, I've been more or less told that's tough.
I've just got an awful sinking feeling there's going to be nothing I can do?

apple recons are like new, and tested more than a brand new one
What they are doing is acceptable, it saves waiting to get yours repaired0 -
John Lewis have taken mine, it's now got to go to apple and they'll then decide what to do, I've been told that could take 2 to 3 weeks.0

i think if you went to a apple store they would have swapped it0

If you have an apple store go direct if you have any problems, they will most likely sort it out there and then for you.0

Agree with previous poster, Apple recon items are as good as new, certainly better than a 7 month item.0

Can you stop posting unexplained 'advice'
By all means offer solutions/suggestions but at lease back them up...
You can stop to give your unexplained advice. I have not seen what qualifies you to think that your advice makes any sense. I am trying to help OP, who asked for help.
Please ignore my posts, concentrate on helping the OP, and if you have nothing helpful to say, do not generate needless comments, you have ss0000 many of them each day.
The OP is entitled to a full refund under Sales of Goods act. The OP can easily prove the fault (a good quality product would not have broken at 7 months with normal use), so nothing to worry about. It is up to the OP which remedy to choose. A refund is the nicest me thinks.0
