Help! My phone 4 won't connect to the internet? :0(
Hi Guys
Just got a new Iphone 4 the other day. I am pleased with it & surprised myself how easy I found it use, then a problem!. I have Wifi from my BT hub with no issues (put in the code etc) & have had full internet inside the house on my phone. Then yesterday I took the phone out for the first time & I had no Internet. In Safari it just kept saying ' you are not connected to the internet! so frustrating!. I'm hoping its something simple I have to press? but I have no knowledge of these phone. Hope someone can help please?xx:(

Heh heh, it is something simple, basically when you are at home, you log onto your internet router, once you leave home you are out of range of the router and hence why the handset cannot see any internet.
You now have some choices which include (a) using the 3g connection on your sim, note extra charges may apply (b) use free wifi when out and about in specified locations where it is offered. Depending on your ISP or MSP, these locations can be maximised.
Example Im with btinternet and have access to wifi out and about, this month since the 1st August I have used 0mb of data even though I have unlimited on my account.0 -
mummyroysof 3-The phone is new, sim & contract (unlimited data in package!;0)). The only old thing is that I had my phone number transferred from my my old Samsung Galaxy Y with O2 to my new Iphone 4 with T-mobile/EE.
DUTR-I knew that's what was happening but not a clue what to do about it! Lol! looks like I may be 'googeling'!x

I have just gone in to Wifi in Settings. There is a tick next to my BT Hub (then a code) my hub which we are using but the other options are BTWIFI & BTWIFI-WITH-FON. Wonder if one of these needs ticking instead for outdoor useage?0

If I was to connect to one of the BTWIFI OR BTWIFI-WITH-FON would it cover me for in & outside? just switch itself over?#notaclueaboutthis:eek:0

Do you have mobile data turned on? Settings > Mobile Data0

All the talk of wifi while out and about is just causing confusion (and is exactly quite limited in use, even if you did use it).
You need to ensure the mobile data is working, this is what you would normally use while out and about.
Check "settings" - "general" - "mobile data" and it should be set to ON.
If it is, and you aren't getting Internet, it becomes a little complicated, I would suggest a visit to a network shop to check the mobile data settings are correct.====0 -

he doesn't need a mobile shop to check the settings, if he has changed handsets and the handset was on another network, then yes the settings maybe incorrect, he can request the new settings or input them manually.
Yes depending on where the user is, wifi can be limited, fortunately I can get onto BT fon, and this month I'm attempting to get through the month on 0Mb data :cool:0
