Shes gone to the rescue centre with antibiotics, painkillers and some vitamin drops I am a lot poorer but the vet said sbe would have been dead within 24 hours
Well done for rescuing the poor little rabbit! :T
Glad finally now the rabbit is being looked after properly.0 -
MellyMoo - I think you've done a great job.
I think you were right to give the little mite water and greens and to leave notes for the owner/caretaker.
It was the owner/caretaker's choice not to contact you or to have abandoned the rabbit.
You were right to move the cage out of the hot, fly infested bin store. Shame the flies had got to the bunny but at least you've now rescued him and the foster organisation's vet will get him well.
You did a good caring thing and I hope you are rewarded with thanks and apologies by the owner.
I actually hope the owner never turns up and the bunny is re-homed to decent people who have a nice large run for the little fella.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The OP's neighbours aren't the owners though. If this is all as its written here the actual owners have now lost their rabbit because they trusted the wrong person to care for it, you must feel some sympathy for them?0 -

Are you just being awkward? I was asked if id left my contact details and I point out I have I have also left the rescue details and shes being fostered for a couple of weeks so not lost at all. I will be following it up tomorrow if they contact me I have a lovely bill for them.0 -

Yes I would feel sympathy for the owners. They will be able to get the rabbit back from the foster organisation. It will only be temporary for the rabbits protection for now.
I just hope the owners are appalled at the person they left the rabbit with and are grateful to OP & the foster organisation.
One thing though. Wouldn't you think the owners would have agreed where the caretaker would keep the hutch? Maybe they did and it looked OK in the caretaker's garden but then the caretaker moved it. Or maybe the owners are complicit.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm sure if that had been the case it'd STILL have been your fault.:(
Can't believe the attitude of some people.0 -
At least the little un is safe vet said she's young and I saw where she will be staying for the next couple of weeks and its lovely and clean with people about all day near other rabbits (they said shed be quarantined for a bit).
Never mind what contrary people on the Internet think.
Thank you for your help though0 -

It depends really, if the owners are the ones who said to their carer 'will you feed my rabbit, I'm just going to shove it in the bin shed while I go on holiday' they don't really deserve much sympathy.
On the other hand, if they thought they were leaving it with a responsible person who took it upon themselves to do so, then yes, they do deserve sympathy, on many levels.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
