Yes I get that but if the hotel has been paid, would the bank still refund you

Probably not, but at least then you'd know that it's OK to turn up at the hotel before you set off.
  • Hello everyone,

I am a Hotel employee that works with the 3rd party that Navelar used (Hotelbeds.com) to make their reservations. I can tell you that even though you have prepaid for your stay, the hotel does not receive any money until after you check out. So you will need to pay the hotel directly if you still want to go on your vacation. I am very sorry to all of you that this has affected, but I just wanted you all to know the facts.

I have heard back from my hotel. They have stated that hotelbeds product s.l.u. Have notified them that my reservation has been cancelled. I now have to rebook.

My bank can not tell me if I'm eligible to chargeback claim until Tuesday because of bank holiday weekend.

As an employee of hotelbeds do you have any further info on what to do next? Would nevelar have passed the money I paid on to you?

    Thanks

    Joanne
  • I work for a Hotel that Hotelbeds uses. As far as I know, no; they have not paid Hotelbeds for anything and that is why I am getting so many cancellations from them because if they had payment they would just keep the reservations and not cause you, the guest; so many issues.

  • Hi

We got the same email last night about our hotel booking in Florida at the end of October, after the initial panic, I've now spoken to the hotel and they have confirmed that the booking was cancelled yesterday but I've been able to book direct with them.

I've contacted my bank Santander and they understood the issue and have agreed to the chargeback so I will get a full refund in the next 2 weeks. They have to send me some forms and I have to return them with the email as proof, but they confirmed that my account should be credited within 48hrs of them receiving the forms back.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, hope this helps all those out there that have been affected.

Do you have an email address for Hotelbeds please?

We'd like to contact them to find out exactly who has actually got our money.
  • someone has created a discussion group on facebook. It won't let me put the link but its called ripped off by clever hotels discussion group
  • OMG
I have just stumbled across this and have hubby's birthday trip booked through clever hotels......
I paid by debit card via nationwide as I don't have a credit card and we go next month.
Do I ring the bank first or the travel insurance company .
I haven't had any email yet??
  • Hello Everyone

Thought my note would be of some help. My two daughters left home on holiday yesterday to stay overnight at an airport hotel before flying overseas. On arrival at the hotel they were told their booking had been cancelled because Navelar had gone 'burst'. The hotel was full and could not accommodate them. Fortunately, they were able to book into another nearby hotel and had to pay a premium price out of their own pockets.

Booking with Navelar was made by credit card so hopefully with be able to sort out a claim on their return. My daughters were not aware of the problem before they left home as no e.mail had been received.

    Best Wishes to All
