That is the AVERAGE pay, which includes those on max as well as those on minimum - the minimum is something like 11k which many are on. The pay system is set up so that it is virtually impossible to ever reach the max on the scale. Those already on it have worked there since the year dot and were able to reach the max before this fantastic new pay system was brought in!

Thanks Kellogg, I rather thought the clue was in the word "average" cunningly contained in the middle of each sentence.

I wonder if MEFs are read that carefully ...

Hi just thought would post an update!

Successfully received my £30.00 payment for this month and used it to buy my son the Fantastic Four video game as a special treat after having taken him to see it in the cinema. Oh and the money left over was just enough to buy him the ice cream he wanted after his meal in Pizza Hut! I now see the benefit of receiving child support!

I was advised however by a very pleasant woman in the Plymouth office not to become reliant on this money as in all probability it would not continue to be paid regularly. I was further advised to inform them when I have not received payment so that they can investigate as their workload is too great and they rarely notice if payments are not being made!

Excuse my stupidity please but I thought it was meant to be their job to monitor/enforce payments?

Ahh! The innocence of youth. No, those of us who've been unfortunate enough to have had to deal with them for years understand that their job is to make life an utter misery for as many people as possible. That they get awarded "performance" bonuses is testament to how successful they are at it.
