When I was in school - many, many years ago we had a Tuf factory about 10 miles away! (height of fashion-NOT!)
They had a guarantee that IF they wore out/had faults within a year that they would replace the damned things.
I used to turn over slightly on the heels (flat of course!) - so every year they would be replaced for free. ALL the time I was in secondary school - 7 years I had out of 1 replaced pair!!! They had to be lace up and brown.
Trouble is, living in Wales we have LOTS of pretty steep hills. We lived a mile up a steep hill (bus was at bottom) The school was a mile up an equally steep hill (bus at bottom). It was so steep that buses couldn't go up there with ease. If we did get a bus up, often half way up it used to shudder to a stop & we'd all have to get out, leaving just the people on the bus that had paid - none of us 'season ticket' lot.:D
OK in the summer BUT in the winter those damned Tufs didn't have any grip at all so going up/down the hills was precarious at best. Hope there was a fence/branch handy for when I started skidding/falling. It was often better to ride down them on my satchel on snowy/icy days - inadvertently often (as young ladies from our posh grammar were NOT supposed to do!)
You could ALWAYS tell who was wearing Tufs!:rotfl::rotfl:
The only benefit of all those hills was I've often been told 'You have lovely calves' - Yep they got THAT much exercise!
I had to giggle at this.........they brought back memories, were they "Tuff Go Girls" by any chance? The boys version were Wayfinders and they had animal paw prints on the sole, 19/11d in old money and I also tried to wear them out to no avail.
Good times ....I still have no street cred to this day:rotfl::rotfl:0 -
just had text from dd2 whose partner visited with her today
saying he thinks we must be really posh and well of
text back why because of the 3 grandfather clocks and other clocks (OH does them up)
no she replied when he carried the stuff to the freezer he reckons there is several hundred pounds worth of expensive meat in the freezer.
(he is a chef) shall i explain dtd to him:rotfl::rotfl:
have to say it is all thanks to the lovely elite0 -
Where have you been hiding?
Now let me guess you searched Dotty.
Evening everyone,
DD1 has been home this weekend so spent some quality time with her today. We treated ourselves to a M & S picnic, ready made sandwiches, wraps, snacks and cakes. £15 for 3 of us, well cakes for 6.
I had a gift card that my mum never got around to using so seemed a nice thing to do with it.
We took it to visit OHs cousin who has upgraded from a tent to caravan, was delivered to camp site this week so they tried it out. Was good to see a caravan in situ on plot opposite hers that we will be having next year. Must hurry up and get paperwork sorted for my inheritance so I can join her.its the only way of not appearing ignorant
I really don't have the time at the moment way too much going on with one thing or another and now another .
So every now and again I pop on reply to pm`s and do a quick search
No doubt its been glitch heaven since I have been missing :T
5 more days and away fishing for a week
Hope everyone is as well as can be and you are all doing your best to cut the supermarkets profits down a bit don't want them muggles making the shareholders too much money :rotfl:.When The Fun Stops Stop0 -
I have a mini mser too I have discovered. Over the hols we went to buy her a bike from halfords and when the sales guy asked her if she liked the colours she said "well yes but I don't think we like the prices" :rotfl:
Also friend told her the other day "you don't get anything in life for free". To which she replied " you do if you have coupons otherwise you have to pay 4p at tesco". Got to love it. She is going to be totally money savvy when older as she only 9
i think the elite kids are going to be showing there generation how to shop very well
my dd loves cutting out coupons and sorting them and playing find the product oh and loves to womble as she gets to keep the one £1-1.50 for her self;)0 -

They had names? They were just SO abysmal, there were only 2 Tuf designs that were approved for our school - both god awful! I do remember my younger brother had ones with paw prints. Mine had very fine lines on the bottom - so fine they had NO grip at all!
I used to wear them out - trouble was they kept replacing for free!
Street cred - definitely NOT!:rotfl::rotfl:0 -
thanks to op. I picked up 8 a5 notepads. it says that only two tickets per household so I used OH email and changed address:D.
also got indian meal deal but only 1 spring roll left so had to lose 50 p on pp. Lucky did womble 1.82 5 minutes before.
