  • The 8% interest added to the reembursed premiums, is this compound or simple interest?

What about Halifax card care? Is that included?
  • I've had a policy with CPP for years. Have had 2 letters from them - one about miss-selling and one asking if I wanted to cancel my policy. Should I cancel or should I let it go ahead and just claim it back for miss-selling.

Do you think I should wait for further correspondence or jump the queue and ask for my money back immediately.
  • My wife got this letter :) Reminded us that she had this. When she noticed it coming out of her CC she cancelled it but had no idea how long she had been paying it for although it was around £30pm that was coming out which doesn't add up to the £80pa that was in the letter :/
  • I have had a CPP policy since around 2005... A friend in the office said he had received some information from his bank about the refund scheme.

Concerned I had not received a letter I called up CPP - they have stated that I am not due a refund as I was not sold the policy on the phone... I honestly cant remember how I signed up for it - I know it was for a virgin card and that i always had to activate the cards over the phone.

Surely as the product itself has been declared a fraud I should be entitled to a refund no matter how I applied for it?

    Anyone else having this problem?

    Hi,
I was sold this on my first ever credit card in 2002 - I'm still with the same bank and still have the same credit card account which still has the policy on it automatically being renewed annually.

Am I right in thinking - therefore - that I don't need to take any action and wait for this to 'play out' or should I be following up with my bank?

    Thanks!

I'm in the same position - should I cancel now or wait for the easy claim process and get the fee back with interest?

If I cancel now the policy says I won't get a refund for this year so I may as well wait but I don't want to weaken my claim by not cancelling.

    Any views appreciated!
  • Just wondering if anyone has had any letters regarding this?

I was sold Privacy Guard by Lloyds a number of years back, and am still paying. I've always questioned it's value as I don't use that many online shops, and tend be quite careful anyway. I had a meeting with Lloyds a few weeks ago and a representative there even said 'you might as well cancel it, as we've been offering this service with your account for a few years now anyway!'. I am going to cancel the dd this week.

I believe I was mis-sold as they labelled it as something that would protect my identity and card, but I don't believe it has and will not come into any use at all.

Has anyone had any luck with reclaiming privacy guard payments, and how do you go about it?
  • I had a letter from CPP on Saturday, completely out of the blue as I knew nothing about this. Until I came on here I half suspected it was a con. Anyway even though I have moved around I guess they have my details via the card issuer - whoever that is. Didn't know I had any 'protection'.

This is addressed to Martin's article I don't know why Lloyds are saying they didn't sell CPP, as I used to work for Lloyds 2006-2009 and can confirm they used to sell the protection under the name Privacy Guard on a trial of £1 for first month and then sky rocketed to around £5.99 a month (and it give access to credit files, 'fraud insurance'(I put in comma's as it was basically impossible to claim on it) , blocking all cards to one number etc just as your article suggested, so maybe I suggest pushing Lloyds as they are clearly lying in this situation. they also used to sell a rip off product called sentinel card protection which did a similar thing except that it only blocked cards if lost.)as all the staff in credit card services were pushed to sell the product on nearly every call, from people I know that still work there it was changed to ID aware or something of a similar name they keep changing the name. Unless Lloyds are claiming as its aimed at protecting the id of the person, however in the credit card department we were pushed to sell it for protecting peoples credit cards and general Identity safe AKA as misselling.

I totally agree with this article re Lloyds TSB and believe they should be included in the 13. My dad recently moved in with us (he is now 82 years old) and has been paying this for the past 8 years although he has no recollection of signing up for it in the first place. I immediately tried to cancel it through the bank but was told I would have to contact Privacy Guard themselves. The cancellation went through without a hitch but what was interesting was the confirmation he got regarding the cancellation was on Lloyds headed notepaper and even more interesting was their reference which was LTSBPGLMxxxx/10.08/02. Which I believe must stand for Lloyds TSB Privacy Guard. Do I send my claim for mis-selling to Lloyds or Privacy Guard?
  • A quick call to privacy guard to confirm who I should send my complaint to - no need they said we will pass it onto Lloyds on my behalf. Yesterday Lloyds call to get permission from my dad to discuss this with myself on his behalf. Today they call with a settlement of £790 (including £40 deducted for tax from the interest) - result. Who said Lloyds never sold this policy. Promised cheque within 10 days.:T
