You can't e-mail a photo to the passport office - it must be a printed photo.

maybe you can if your name is surely

I never bothered with check and send, both passport's had ran out and we was getting married, so we both decided to be on the safe side and do new photo's and I had the vicar sign documents so that I could get my passport in my married name, I filled in the forms and sent it off with my fingers crossed, no way was I paying someone to look through it. Read through the docs properly and u don't need to.

Why does everyone leave getting passports until 2 weeks before their holiday?

When my son renewed his passport he felt he hadn't changed that much so wouldn't need a new photo. He asked in the post office and they said they only checked the boxes were filled out correctly and that they wouldn't even check the photos themselves

Well, unfortunately, for a good reason, daughter wasnt available for photo until recently LOL. and of course, you've got to register and get birth certificate first also.

I know its not the topic
    however just to stress
Special Delivery is the only RM service to use for passport applications
The loss of the enclosed documents causes lots of cost/hassle for the sender
if times tight, you may wish to consider consequential loss cover(at a cost!)

New photos are ALWAYS needed. -f you haven't changed much from the photo in the previous passport you need not get them countersigned.
The Post Office do have to check certainn aspects of the photos ie glare on glasses, mouth open, neutral expression. Its not their decision to say if the phot is too lighT or dark.

But they do in my Post Office and direct you to the photo shop across the road to get them done 'professionally'. I'm sure they're on commission.:rotfl:

We did that because they said our home, digital ones weren't dark enough. I think the shop ones were worse. I look like a ghost in mine but it was worth it to give DH peace of mind.

I was so pleased with myself recently with mine and husband's renewals, tried to save as much as I could. Filled in renewal forms online

    This^

For a renewal fill the forms in online and you can't go wrong, it goes through stage by stage only giving you the bits you need to fill in, all you need to get right once they've sent you the printed form is your photos and your signature.
Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear

good advice and of course moneysaving as no check and send involved
