Another very satisfied Kuhn Rikon user here - it's brilliant. I bought mine from Lakeland but appreciate it's quite expensive. The Prestige ones are also very good.
The KR is pretty silent in operation and is worth its weight in gold - I couldn't justify the cost in gas for cooking my own chickpeas etc without it!0 -
Thank you all for your input. I bought a 6l prestige high dome one. So far all I have made is lentil and tomato soup - it took 8 minutes!! The sound of the steam is a bit unsettling but I'm sure I will get used to it. Will look through all the other threads for recipes.0

Hi everybody,
I just wondered if anyone could tell me what kind of things you cook in your pressure cooker?
Do people mainly use it for soups/stews? Also, are they quite easy to use?
The other thing that worries me is whether everything will turn out tasting the same which I feel it does a bit with the slow cooker!!
Thanks for any tips!0 -

Hi
Used mine uncovered to make this: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1404/red-onion-marmalade?pager.offset=20 (I used less sugar and vinegar, added more fresh chilli)
Pressure cooker's also great for making jam and mainly use mine for cooking dried beans.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -

Slow Cooking Curries and Spicy Dishes
Spicy doesn't have to mean hot but it does mean full of flavour. The food that comes out of my slow cooker now makes me drool just to think about. I'm embarrassed that I used to use tinned soup as a sauce for cooking in, throw in some mixed herbs before calling it good, and thought that was enough. No wonder the end results weren't very exciting!0 -
I like gammon and chicken in the slow cooker but my stews always taste bland and the meat is dry. Bung the same stuff into the pressure cooker and it tastes fab and is soo tender and juicy.
If someone were to say I could only have a pressure cooker OR a slow cooker I'd choose pressure every time.
I'm off to look at honeythief's book, though!0
