Hardly 'shopping' around, it is just simple process.

Perhaps if you were diagnosed to your determinant by the 'original' decision, would absolve such..
    .

Perhaps, if you posted that in English, I might understand what you were on about.;)

Perhaps if you were told something.... By your GP.... That you was not happy with.... You can ask 4 a second opinion... If you feel it would be not good 4 you...

    :D

    Can you understand that Dunroamin?

thank you for the minority on here that have been supportive, the rest of you.....

By asking you questions your GP is being supportive but you knew that didn't you. ;)

One would assume its the job of a doctor to ask relevant questions for a diagnosis. By answering the questions both honestly and politely, a doctor can establish the problem as well as your worthiness for a sick note.

I had a doctor who would sign a prescription before I even sat down. a doctor who simply nods to a demand and ticks a box to satisfy his patient, is nothing more than a glorified sales rep.

You should not worry OP, the doctor is only doing his job. I am sure if you answer the questions asked, honestly enough to satisfy the doctor of your circumstances, he\she will give you a sick note to cover your ailments.

As a slight aside .. I worked at weekends and holidays in a pharmacy when I was at school. When they brought in the new rules including having to ask specific questions when selling particular drugs it was a nightmare. People in general were very rude epically as I was a 17 years old asking them but it was more to do with ensuring peoples safety. I don't think people notice now when those questions are asked its just second nature maybe we need to get used to GPs being more questioning ... Having said that I did have 1 gp who asked if I tried taking paracetomal for the pain when I was taking a cocktail of drugs including morphine prescribed by the pain clinic, funnily enough I never went back to see him again.
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j

but how does one cope with the transition, without losing self respect?

Someone can only make you feel worthless if you let them. Easier said than done I know but keep telling yourself this.

It's not easy, that's for sure. There is an element of society who regard all claimants as scroungers and scallies BUT I am sure your Dr. knows this isn't the case with you. If you feel he/she does not, just make a joke about it, something along the lines of "wow this is hard I haven't been used this as I have always worked".....
