Does that fully reflect how the OP feels they have been treated ? ;)

None of us were there to see.

The OP has told us what was said. We can only go on his account of things. Are you suggesting there was something more to it, something the OP is not telling us?

If you are dissatisfied OP with your current GP ask to be referred to another within the practice.
  • I am very happy that the GP is asking all the appropriate questions to establish if the O/P is a shirker or really sick. Far too many GPs in the past have just handed out sick notes so their patient can get more benefits. Well done that GP.
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

Go on, shop around and hope you find someone who'll just sign whatever you want, there's plenty who'll do that!;)

Not particularly no. A patient may experience a GP that disregards their afflictions then the option of a second opinion is warranted...

i went to the doctor to ask for a sick note as i was advised to do this to support a claim for esa

he asked me a lot of questions re my recent work history, what benefits i was on etc

on reflection it sounded like i was being `screened` as a potential `work shirker`

my question is this, is this normal practice now?
what should i do to convince him i am not a `shirker`

btw if anyone doubts, i have 30 years solid work experience behind me and it disgusts me that after having paid all these ni contributions i should be screened like this

I saw my doctor last week about migraines increasing in frequency. Instead of just handing out tablets, he asked about my children, in particular my middle child who is severely disabled. As my son is now 15, he was asking about post 16 schooling, the implementation of PIP, available respite, etc. Now, I don't think he was just being nosy, or that he wanted a fifteen minute chat before his next patient. I believe that he was trying to establish whether I have added stress or worries at the moment, which could trigger migraines.

Maybe your doctor is trying to establish a way to help you.

As I said, shop around until you find someone who agrees with you.

Who knows, let's wait & see.

How can you ever convey atmosphere, tone, attitude & real-life situations in words ? ;)
  • BTW, my doctor has also asked me about benefits in the past. He then asked me if I wanted the details of places that would do a benefits check to make sure that I am getting everything that I am entitled to. He was quite surprised that my mortgage wasn't being paid in full, as others on income support (at the time) had their rent paid in full, but then again, he's a great doctor but doesn't know much about benefits! He just knew that I was able to claim some, and wanted to help me.

Hardly 'shopping' around, it is just simple process.

Perhaps if you were diagnosed to your determinant by the 'original' decision, would absolve such...
