    No I never said that, I said it was a lot better than JSA.

    Yes for at least six years, during that time I saved for a deposit on a house.

    I am actually on less than when I started in 2008.
    No point in complaining my employer knows that they can employ a graduate at minimum wage.

    If you're leaving anyway, why not rock the boat?

    The attitude of many posters here amazes me, it's like the whole 20th century has been forgotten and we're right back to doffing our caps and curtsying to our betters while begging for a day's work here and there for a pittance that won't even pay the rent.

    No it's not however that is the way life is now. Make yourself invaluble where you are. Make them worry when you take holiday. Make your imput to your job mean you would be indispensible.

    Then take two weeks off.

    That's fascinating, can you share with us how you allocated your monthly budget? Maybe Rowntree is wrong and we really can live a life of luxury on NMW?

    Are you living in the real world, yes it is doffing the caps and curtsying to our betters. That's what we have to do to have a job. Do you want my horror stories of my husbands work history after 18 years with the same employer.

    This is the main problem of a NMW, it erodes the natural supply and demand where the vast majority of people were on a living wage, now a large % are not as companies are told that NMW is an acceptable wage.

    I really believe that if we hadn't introduced NMW that more people would be better of today than now.

    The problem now is that increasing wages to a 'living' wage is impractical and is to quick an adjustment for companies and the economy to cope with and all that will happen is cost of living will just rise so we end up back where we are now.

    There is no easy way out of this now though, you could remove NMW and I would expect an immediate dip in average wage but then it to rise at a quicker rate than keeping NMW...but thats just a guess.
    Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked

    Ok so the 20th century clearly did pass you by!

    Better get myself to bed now so I can be up in time to black the grates and warm the master's slippers before he wakes.
