Think about john Lewis/waitrose. They have a reputation for excellent service and make huge profits. Even though they sell many identical products at higher prices than their competitors customers choose to shop there for the service. .
John Lewis 'never knowingly undersold' so wrong again as they will give you the difference back therefore not being dearer at allWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

No a hotel refund would be made at the front desk therefore not involving accounts at all just like a restaurant bill and shop. Refunds are not done by accounts.
At John Lewis/Waitrose you do not have to go out of your way to get the bonus as everyone gets it regardless of how well you work etc and its the same % because its a 'partnership'
You do not have to exploit anyone to make a profit and keep hold of it.
You obviously have no experience working in my field.
It was an example. The refund may or may not be made at the front desk depending on how the business operates.
To be totally honest I think you're just trolling now so I'm out.0 -
I'm far from rich. I earn well below average UK salary.
However I do sleep very well because I actually take a stand and argue for a decent wage for all and full employment, even though it's an extremely unfashionable argument in this day and age where the government and a significant proportion of the population share your view that we all deserve to live in poverty and be grateful if we can get any work at all.
When you say you take a stand, what do you actually do yourself to make a stand?Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -

I give up my time as a union rep, I take part in online discussions and campaigns and attend demos and marches in support of the things I believe in.
What do you do?0 -
Maybe I'm wrong on care sector then!
Perhaps if private providers weren't creaming off a nice profit there would be more money for service provision.0 -

What do you do?
I didn't claim I make a stand on anything. This is about your claim. You tell other people to do things that could lose them their jobs and leave them unemployed without a second's thought so I wondered whether you yourself had walked out of a job/made an actual stand yourself on a point of principle. None of the things you do actually make a stand, do they? I mean, you support other people who presumably are making a stand, and you talk about other people on line who are making a stand; but you aren't actually making a stand yourself are you?Sanctimonious Veggie. i dont really feel that asking for a 1% increase in pay is really a pay rise anyway
with inflation at 3% its in effect a pay cut
if you buy exactly the same things this year as you did last year you will have less money at the end of the year
what exactly have we done wrong that should make us so accepting of a pay cut?0 -
