*puts the St Bernards on standby* Good luck out there, if last night is anything to go by you'll need it! :eek:a penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library0

Been a bit remiss on here - busy time for us all. DS has been really poorly with a nasty chest infection hopefully on the mend now. Made it back from Mr T - several times now and even ventured into W@itrose today. Way way way over spent on the Xmas food budget and last minute stocking fillers - thank goodness I did most of the shopping early - dread to think what I would spent  one last food shop tomorrow for the little bits I forgot today.
Not even going to mention the MS word - it's not been in my vocab this week.
Merry christmas everyone if I don't get back on here before

..... and relax
Survived Christmas and had a lovely time. Everyone enjoyed their presents and scoffed up all the Christmas food and we even managed a trip to see the family on Christmas day too.
Finances not looking very healthy - lots of fuel to visit the family and far too much spent on party food and drink but hey ho its Christmas and it could have been a lot worseI think next year I'm going to put £15 a month away to cover those additional food costs. We will be eating out of the freezer for the next 5 days until the new year - so I'm sure there will be some strange meals to make up.
Not much else to report on the MS front - may pop out over the next few days to see if I can pick up some bday/xmas pressies in the sales :money:

MERRY CHRISTMAS Edinburgher - Santa was very good to me thank you. He has helped me to be more MS for next year by giving me some money towards my freezer fund - another freezer to store my Mr T bargains :rotfl:
Hope you and Mrs E had a lovely time too. Like you I'm doing my spreadsheets and budgets for next year - how sad am I?
Have a great New Year

Busy weekend deep cleaning DS2s bedroom - we've only been here 3 months and it took me nearly a whole day to clear it out - teenagers - gross
DH and I went for a lovely walk this morning whilst the kids are at their respective parents - it was beautiful and sunny - we've decided to do it more often as we seem to have got out the habit over the last year or so. I did have a small spend today as we treated ourselves to a sunday paper and a fry up on the way back at the local cafe. Money well spent if you ask me
I've been spending some time thinking and planning for next year in terms of savings targets and budgeting. Things were pretty tight this year due to DH leaving work and I don't think I quite got the balance right in terms of saving and still enjoying life so I am going to give us a bit more to spend on a monthly basis on going out and make the most of going for walks and coffees with him.
I've estimated that the maximum I will be able to save will be £15,000 plus whatever interest I earn from my savings accounts - I am aiming for a grand total of £18,000. This is £2000 off my target but I would rather have a happy home next year.
Off to rest my weary feet.

Your plans all sound perfectly sensible PFTP. It's a marathon, not a sprint (even if we're trying to jog).
That made no sense, but I agree with you0 -

Started my Xmas shopping for 2014 :rotfl: Picked up some bargains from Boots and Mr T so everyone is set for toiletries next xmas. If I could be bothered I would pop into the nearest big shopping centre to do some real bargain hunting for next year but as it's peeing it down and I really can't face the crowds I will give it a miss.
