I think the goldfish may just have to downsize their living accommodation, just like the family is doing ;););):rotfl::rotfl:

    Don't do that :D

If they're single tailed goldfish (i.e. long and thin), chances are they need the room.

Goldfish are filthy monsters in general - they're actually considerably harder to care for than the tropical equivalents in my experience.

They can live for as long as a dog, can easily get to be a foot long and don't get out of the tank to go to the toilet :rotfl:

If they are long and thin (technical term there), you will need a good sized external filter that can comfortably deal with 5 or more times the tank volume each hour (higher is better). If they're shorter and frillier (again, keeping this sensible), they don't need as much filtration.

Why thank you Edinburger - I've learnt more in your last two posts than I have in the 8 years I've had them - did have 6 now down to 2, slightly lobsided - think they're long and thin - and definately quite big!

  • Just lost my really long and detailed end of month money saving breakdown and don't know if I've got the energy to re do it. So let's precis - hang on going to get myself a glass of wine :rotfl:

    ..... ahh that's better...

Tomorrow is the last day of my financial month and as i know I will have no cash spends I am going to update my monthly accounts tonight whilst I have the time. My monthly savings are based mianly on my previous month's spends as 90% of my spends are on the credit card. So here goes:

    £1207 - savings this month
£97,709 - amount saved to date
£152,291 - amount left to save over next 71 months

I went over budget this month on a number of accounts:
£458/£400 - food, will strive to do better next month
£212/£175- petrol (due to taking sis and new husband back home from the airport as part of their wedding present)
£139/|£50 - me. Due to £45 for P.Inn hotel booking for November and the £33 on a takeaway plus several bottles of much needed wine :rotfl:

I also had major spends on the kids for uniforms and new extra curicular activites that needed buying in August as well as £145 for a new light for the J££p that DH managed to break reversing out of the drive and into a post  As I hold separate budget accounts for these all spends were allocated for. I have 3 separate accounts which I contribute to monthly regardless of whether there will be a spend that month or not - hopefully this will see me through the year. You never know I might even have some money left over in them - though me thinks not.
    These are made up of:

£600/month - holidays, bdays, easter, mothers day, weddings etc
£300/month - kids stuff - anything related to kids.
£300/month - annual spend - mainly cars and insurances

Next month is going to be a really hard one for me in terms of savings as I have a massive CC bill £1800 compared to my usual £800 one so I am not expecting to save more than £300 and that's only because I have a standing order for that amount into a high interest regular saver. I'm really looking forward to getting back to my ninja style MS ways and can't wait till the move is over.

Which reminds me I must dash - I'm sure the roof needs cleaning :rotfl:

    hi there pftp.

reading your story with great interest. i notice on a page in here (i think it was page 2 or 3, might have been 4 or 5. i know it was in here somewhere) that you spoke about a thrifty spends thread. i am relatively new to the forum and a wee bit daft... and i can't find it. any suggestions on where i can find it?? (sorry, i am daft. i can't help it).
    :o

looking forward to reading more of your story. i am amazed at how well you can juggle everything. no wonder you need lists with so much going on every day.

hope your move goes well. (i do not envy you having to unpack all those boxes. hopefully the kids will be all excited and unpack their own stuff for you).

Thanks for letting me know that Calfuray - it will save a lot of retyping!

As far as I can tell DS is really enjoying the course - but being a grumpy teenager his responses tend to be limited to a grunt :o

Hi Stewby - thanks for popping by :)

With regards to the thread about thrifty spends I'll have to get back to you on that one as I can't remember of the top of my head what it was called - I think its on the old style money saving thread. Let me have a look when I get a mo. I know there are two of them. Well worth a look as I picked up loads of tips when I read it - I need to get back to it so as soon as I find it I will let you know :)

    PFTP x

Just found it - hope this works, not copied and pasted a thread before.

Time for a quick rant

I've just found out from DH that his x is refusing to pay any of the additional cost we have for DSS2 with regard to his schooling and any costs towards him learning to drive

She pays us a poxy amount anyway which doesn't even meet the CSA requirements and covers not even a quarter of his living costs. I am so cross I can't tell you. In reality it is my x who pays for a majority of the additional costs for him via the maintenance I get for my kids. She drives around in her poxy soft top porche, facebooking all the top restaurants she goes to but won't even pay towards her son's bus fare to school.:mad::mad: She dumped her son (we were more than happy to have him) so she could move in with her lawyer boyfriend and start her new jetsetting career. I am not a bitter woman and I know that karma will come her way but I can not understand how any mother can do that to her child :mad::mad:

    Rant over :)

4 days to go - will redirect my anger into scrubbing the floor :rotfl:

Last night with the kids in the house tonight as they all go to their respective parents tomorrow for the weekend (not sure that DSS2 will want to go now). We'll miss this house, we've had so many great times here. We named it the Festival House as we've had loads of massive parties here and even had our wedding party here. But as they say the house will stay but our home will be coming with us :D

I'm sorry that you're having grief from your DH's ex - I think that Porsche is symbolic for you of your general annoyance with her :)

You're very right about your home coming with you, it's your family and loved ones that make a home, not the bricks.

Try and have a sanguine day.
