Desperation and Lies

What type of jobs are you looking for ?
If you are unemployed would there be courses that you could take to formalize (or learn new) skills to help you find the kind of work you want ?
There is also new funding available for over 25s at some colleges - worth asking about.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I don't particularly blame you for lying but it is digging a massive hole!
Also, why can you not retrain for something you want to do?
Also, the 'jobs' you have claimed you have done....are they real companies or made up ones that if any employer has any sense would do a search for on google to see if they exist?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
What do I want to do? Well at this stage I'd take anything I could get but can't get anything.
What's wrong with supermarket work? Loads of people work in supermarkets and the pay is good. If I got a job in a supermarket, you wouldn't see me for dust!
You seem to think I'm being some sort of job snob, well when I look in the job centre in my area, they want experience for cleaning, care work, office junior, waiters, bars seem to look for previous experience of cash handling and customer facing work. I even tried to get a job at a vets kennels for cleaning out the pens, feeding the animals and taking them out to the toilet but didn't get that either, so I don't think that's job snobbery.
Maybe its the way I've worded my first post that made you think I was being picky, or maybe you're one of those people that think people are only long term unemployed because they're being to fussy and turning jobs down.
I did get a vague impression that you were being picky, which is why I asked. All I can do is apologise if that was not the case and wish yu well in job hunting. One day it will come if you persevere, I know yu can get disheartened, but keep on keeping on.
Good luck.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Hmmmm....it's a tough one.
Personally, I have lied a number of times in order to get employment. Big lies, such as yours. Jobs that didn't exist etc. I took some time to help 'cover my bases' and got certain people to vouch for me and I was never found out.
I ended up being At each job for 2 years +
I've even got away with even bigger lies on my application that, amazingly, were never discovered either, but I won't go into that.
However, I don't think it's a necessity.
I bet if you went to an agency and were brutally honest, they'd still be able to find you something. They want to get you working so that they get take a cut of your wages. They'd maybe give you a few little 'tests' like data entry, and could maybe forward you for that sort of role.0 -

Places do closeCan't use real places or it would be too easy to check. That really would be reckless.
I've done different courses at the college, diplomas and nvqs but I've done all that interest me. I went back to uni last year part time.0 -

I must give one of them a ring tomorrow and see what they say, sort of ask them as a general question. They tend not to answer emails.0 -

Or even go to a couple and say your looking for work what have you got available, you might have to do some basic tests. Be proactive, Ive sen xmas jobs started to be advertised albeit only for boots so far.0 -
My opinion of your situation Failure, is that you seem surprisingly eloquent in your posts for someone who has no virtually no work life experience and such low self esteem.
This means you must be capable of coming across well to interviewers. Especially if you stop putting yourself down. If you want interviewers to feel good about employing you then you must show you feel good about it too.
I reckon you could put a nice CV together without lies. Put down your university course and other courses. Then put down that you were full time carer for your father. List all the responsibilities and try to relate skills you learnt into skills required in the job you are applying for.
You might want to mention Betterware as a temporary job but only list the tasks and responsibilities none of the failures.
I wouldn't bother mentioning the crook boss. In future make sure you only work for legitimate companies. There are lots of scam canvassing companies around. No point getting involved. You are very unlikely to get paid and they show you have no sense of judgement so no good for a CV.
The skills you learned as a carer should stand you in good stead to apply to a MacDonalds type fast food place or any retail shop.
eg:
Attended on time and often worked extra hours
Took no sick leave
Prepared food for others in a fast hygienic manner
Organised medicines and treatments by deadlines
Accepted responsibility for others and assisted when required
Remained polite and friendly in stressful situations
Completed tasks on time
etc etc
All you have to do is look at the job descriptions for the jobs you are applying for and re-write the emphasis of your CV to match the requirements on the job description. No need to invent anything or lie.
Finally. Leave the computer applications alone for a few days. Get yourself into a smart outfit. Put on a little make up and tidy hair. Then take your new truthful general CV to all the shops and factory units you can walk to. Ask whether they have any vacancies for general assistants. Tell them how willing you are to start at the bottom and prove yourself.
If any company shows interest, tell them you'd be willing to do a 3 day trial with no pay to prove you are worth taking on. (If they look like a decent outfit you'd like to work for).
If there are no vacancies, leave your CV so they can contact you if one comes up.
One question a prospective employer might ask is whether you'll have to go back full time caring again anytime soon. So prepare how you are going to answer that to reassure them it won't be in the near future.
Hope this lengthy post gives you some ides. :-)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.0 -

I thought it was legit as it was advertised in the job centre. More fool meI didn't realise they let just anybody stick up an ad there.

But I'd have difficulty getting a reference for that if I mention that. They have area leaders and team leaders, but they do it all online/mobile phone. The skills you learned as a carer should stand you in good stead to apply to a MacDonalds type fast food place or any retail shop.
