    I like your light quote
I sympathise re the builder. We have upvc french doors instead of sliding and the house has been standing 20 years. It has never leaked. We do have a slight issue with the locking mechanism though is that we have to hold it up slightly to lock.

Hi Savings.  Thanks, but the quote is clearly not mine.  I am not eloquent enough to come up with a phrase so beautiful.  It is 'The Hill We Climb' by Amanda Gorman, the poet at the Biden Inauguration.  Just a snippet of a really moving poem in my mind. The USA needed something to give them hope and this poem embodied it to me.  Transcript available in The Guardian.

Of all the problems I have ever heard, I think Sliding doors have always come out worse than French doors, and a sticking lock can easily be fixed.  I much prefer a 5 point locking mechanism than what is available with sliding doors.  Never mind, I will get what I want, regardless of the builders viewpoint.  It took me back to an issue someone on here had regarding the builder talking to the male friend, when it was her house and she would be the one paying for the work.  Misogyny is alive and well!

It's annoying when workmen are like that. I liked Amanda's inaug poem - I hadn't realised it was from there.

We have both sliding and French doors - both are fine. I personally prefer the French doors off the dining room to the sliding off the living room and use them more and have had more issues with the locking on the sliding ones as opposed to the French ones :)

Thanks Greent for the confirmation of my thought processes.  I will stick to my guns and get the French doors.  Assuming I ever get anything!

Pay day and completed the money shuffle.

In the midst of arguing with my electric company - 3rd message to them requesting they confirm my instructions - do not reduce my DD and do not refund money overpaid on the account.  I know that come the warmer weather, my electricity consumption is going to increase, so they need to leave the money where it is so I don't fall into arrears.  3 times I have asked them to confirm and they seem incapable of doing this.  They confirm the DD payment but not the capital refund.  Oh well...

Getting a bit bored of doing surveys at the moment.  I am still waiting for money to be processed, then I can move another £10 from Prolific into my phone account.  And I am at £22.65 with One Poll, so less than £2.50 to go before it can be cashed in.  Still remain positive I will finish paying this bill off before the end of April, when the interest free period ends.

Looking forward to warmer weather, where I can re-acquaint myself with the concept of exercise and being in the sea.

Sorry there are so many jobsworths in the world. Perhaps there's a limit to how much of your £ they are allowed to hold.

Last day of the month, so a bit of a money shuffle.  Managed to make another payment into the mortgage, but concerned I should have left the money in my operating account.  Now appear to be short in other places.  Had to use my savings - limited as they were - to buy my bike insurance for the year, and then filled my car and bang went all my disposable income.  It occurred to me that I didn't use the bike once last year, but I still needed the insurance in case someone chose to assist me with removing it from my ownership.  Maybe this year, it will actually get some use?

Anyway, managed to make a claim on 2 of my receipt sites - claimed £7 today, so all good, both into Amazon.  Still trying to get to the £25 on OnePoll, currently at £23.90.  I claimed £30 from Prolific this month, so the phone debt now stands at £37.  The £25 from OnePoll and another £12 from Prolific and it will be gone.  Currently at £6.96 on Prolific, so I will wait until I reach £12 and then claim and clear it all.   Really happy to know that if I purchase electrical items on buy now, pay later, I can manage to pay for them with selling the old and completing surveys.  Wish I had known about this when I was younger.  Such a waste of all those years.

Got home yesterday after a day in the office to find that Calor has visited and filled the tank - again!  That's 3 fills in 1 year so far, so the Gas bill must be near to £2k by now.  Oh well, will wait to see what they come up with in August.   The temperature is rising so I won't need the heating any more, it will give a very short window to try to catch up on the bill.  Maybe I will need to take some of that money from the electric after all and pay it into the gas bill.

Still nothing back from the other builder, so losing hope on this refurb.  No worries.  There is always a light at the end of the tunnel, and you just have to be brave enough to see it.

Over the moon, as have now managed to get my £25 from One Poll and my final £12 from Prolific and I have now cleared my new mobile phone bill.  Excellent!  On top of that, I claimed £5 from HuYu for Asda, £5 from Shoppix for Paypal and £2 from Storewards for Amazon.  It has been a really profitable week on the surveys etc, so definitely one to keep doing.  I just remember that whatever I earn from these sites is money I don't have to earn from work.

Considering I am now getting somewhat concerned about how I am going to pay a £2k gas bill, it seems a reasonable thing to be doing.  The only saving grace is that it is getting warmer - after Easter when it is going to snow - so I will be able to turn the heating off. The downside of working from home for a whole year!

Anyway, nothing else happening here, so will try staring at my bank accounts to see if somehow, money will miraculously appear in it.  Happened once before!

Love the idea of £ miraculously appearing. Sounds amazing.  Ouch to the gas bill.
