Just sent another £20 to the mobile phone debt from Prolific.  This debt is now at £187.00.  Hopefully I will earn another £20 this month with Prolific as I am at £3.52 already.  I am currently at £9.70 towards my £25 target for One Poll, so hopefully, that will come through in March or April.  I will miss my 4 month interest free, but I will get close enough for the bill not to hurt when paid from my savings.

Monthly mortgage payment made.  Tilly Tidied.  Still trying to get hold of the builder.  No success here.

Another £20 off the mobile phone debt.  A really long Prolific survey that took 13 working days to complete.  All good.  It's the only thing that seems to be making any improvement here.  Debt now at £167.  At £5 already with Prolific, so hopefully, I can earn another £10 this month.  Can't complain with £40 so far.  One Poll on the other hand is at £12, so a long way to go before I get to the magical £25 pay-out figure.

The cleaner didn't come this week.  No explanation, but again, not an issue.  The money is still sat here waiting for her if she does come.

Had another Calor Gas delivery on Friday!  Eek!  that's 2 in 2 months!  At £700 a delivery, I am so surprised.  But, I stand by my decision to stay warm.  What do I work for if not to keep warm when at home?  I will just have to increase my DD to over £100 per month to catch up.  They will let me know in August, when they review the contract and payments.  This is a direct result of the chimney not working properly, so easing up on warming the house with the open fire.  And I cannot get a builder to do the work - the other one disappeared off the face of the earth when he got his usual scaffolding man to give him a quote.  He probably realised he had vastly underquoted for the job, or that the job was going to be bigger than he thought, so he has done a Houdini.  Anyway, my heating bill has now increased as a result.  You don't realise how much the open fire helps with reducing the gas bill until it isn't there.

Anyway, watching Cat TV with the cat.  It's quite relaxing with the sound of birdsong in the background, when you can't go outside because of the rain and the cold.  Plus the cat really does watch it!

Sorry the bill is so big. Not a time to quit on the heating though - essential with the recent temperature drops.
I imagine your cat is fascinated.

As expected, my winter holiday has been cancelled.  I am opting for the money back, which I should get in about 6 weeks.  All goes towards the big house renovations when I eventually hear from my builder.

Nothing really happening here.  Money just ticking along.  No large sums suddenly appearing in my account.  No big wins on the lottery.  Nothing, nada, zip.  No big expenditures either.  Thankful for this as it could be so much worse.

Census year.  Wondering how they plan to ensure this happens safely this year?

Glad you are getting a refund. Must be frustrating re the builder. To know what you want doing, have access to the money but still not get a response....

  • I think they are doing a digital census and only reverting to forms/visits for those that don't respond or need help completing it. I'm sure they were going to cancel it after the last one though, but it was 10 years ago so maybe I'm going crackers....🤔

It would be a shame to scrap it in my opinion.  In years to come, it offers so much information about life in the UK at that time.  A bit of a pain, but worthwhile.  There are huge swathes of the population that are not 'online' and who would struggle to complete a digital form.  At least they are accommodating that.  The whole process may take a bit longer though.

Paid my car loan today, so all good.  Big surprise was a friend offered me a STUPIDLY obscene amount of money to come and stay in my house for a week in the holidays.  As a friend, I said they could stay for free, but really shocked as to how much I could make if I just let people stay for a week holiday.  Even 1 week per month...  Not looking to do that just yet.  A room is different to the whole house and I intend on being there when a stranger is making the most of my facilities.
