Their phone charges are not competitive. Once the phone line is excluded the BB looks reasonably attractive compared to others + the phone line they need. Even if you want a land line number which most don't VOIP deals like Vonage work out cheaper than a VM phone.
Because BB without a line doesn't actually work out that much cheaper0

Its not much when you factor in what your going to use as an alternative £6.99 saving a month can soon be eaten into depending on what other options are available, then when the prices go up in October its only a £4.49 saving0

Pays for half my unlimited mobile contract and avoids me paying virgins extortionate phone charges....I'm dropping the house phone as soon as the minimum terms is up, the mothers the only one who knows the number anyway lol!0

Got the letter today about the £2.50 / month increase. I'm a broadband-only customer on 20mb paying £18.65 a month.
I called up to cancel and after listening to retentions explain how slow Sky broadband is and how I wouldn't be able to watch iPlayer etc. I ended up getting 2 months credit on the account - so £37.30 off my bills. Equivalent to about 15 months worth of price increases, so happy enough with that.
I do have Sky TV, so would've been easy enough to switch but glad I avoided the hassle of getting a phone line. Perhaps tellingly I had to wait on hold for 31 minutes to get through to retentions!0

I wouldn't want Virgin Media phone or TV even if I didn't have to pay a penny more for it. Their call rates are just stupidly high and I don't need another cable in my house.. I'm happy with my mobile phone. And I cannot fault Freeview either - more than I need anyway.
But I cannot see any alternative for VM broadband at the moment so I'll pay that £2.50 more this time. If the tethering was allowed on my mobile phone contract I would cancel VM broadband right away.0
