It is sad, and unfortunately, this little lad is missing out on a party, and will be invited much less to play with us too. All because no-one has shown him what isn't acceptable.
Just told mum and she agrees.

Been on park near her house, kids are shattered. DS is crying and he doesn't why - croaky voices and overtiredness. DD is drawing at the table. Granny is making some lunch.

So no flying today other than helping clear up after dinner. I'm Hank Marvin!

I got hair dye on the carpet in the bathroom -- DS1 battered on the door as I was mixing the bottles and I carpped myself(!), hence I spilled some of the colour liquid. I mopped it up and scrubbed straight away, as it wasn't mixed with the developer and the colour liquid alone is beigy I thought it'd be ok. WRONG! It must have oxidised with the air and there's now a big purple splodge right in front of the basin

I need to speak to the management company which we have the leasehold with and confirm whether we're allowed vinyl in the bathroom, leasehold says it has to be carpeted throughout to minimise noise (flat y'see) but we already have Lino in the kitchen so I can't see why not. Who has carpets in bathrooms these days anyway?! It's not great with three boys under 16 who can't pee straight :rotfl:

I am so cross with myself. On the upside, at least my greys seem to have been buried!

Ugh FizzWhizz - carpet in the bathroom - ugh

Years ago, when my Great Aunt and Uncle were alive, and in our care, having no children of their own, I used to go and clean their flat while mum took them shopping, and to the cafe for a 'break'.
Mum decided that we would lift the bathroom carpet (and throw it) as there were vinyl tiles beneath. Anyway dad was duly despatched to do the donkey work. When I went to clean the carpet they hadn't thrown it, but had decided to save it to cut down to use as mats in the kitchen. Temporarily, it was in the cupboard with the immersion heater.
Well ex bathroom carpet + heat = ammonia fumes.
they were told they could NOT keep the carpet -
mats + old people = broken hips but that wasn't the main reason;)
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY

  • I chose to lose a very close friend when my children were young as her children were complete nightmares. She had no control over them & they ran rings round her. She always threatened sanctions but never carried them out so they knew they could do exactly as they liked and there would be no comeback :(

My children started to copy their behaviour - when they were together and when we were alone - and to cut a long story short the after-effects of seeing them became far too heated & stressful to deal with (I was a single working mother) so I decided to 'withdraw'. My friend and I were very close and it was a wrench but I felt I had to do what was right for the good of my family. Harsh as it seems I don't regret it :o

Ho hum. I best get dressed - yes, I am a lazy slob! - if I'm going to get to the shop before it closes. The weather has brightened so I can shove the towels on the line. Then I have some paperwork to do when I get back; it will take the rest of the day I think but then I'm free for a day out with the girlies tomorrow :j

Hi all – looks like a lot to catch up with on the Fred.:o

HB so pleased Mrs Dog enjoyed herself at the beach.:T

Valli thanks for the info re melamine and microwaves. We don't currently have any melamine, but that's not to say we won't in the future, and it's something I didn't know.:o

    Happy Belated birthday to Danceboy.:bdaycake:

Bossy I know I'm late with this, but it's something I feel rather strongly about; it's DD's party; you want her to enjoy every minute, and the child in question has already caused her distress – I wouldn't invite the little horror. Doesn't matter that it's not his fault, the end result is the same in terms of the distress he causes. Just my opinion.;)

Fizzwizz fwiw, I have carpet tiles (easy to lift and scrub individually as needed) in the bathroom and the kitchen. I don't wear any form of footwear at home – even slippers hurt like bu88ery – so I need something warm to walk on. Hope you manage to get the purple splodge sorted.:o

I probably won't be around tomorrow; Bank Hol and Mr LW will be requiring my attention (gods, these men are worse than kids sometimes!:D) but hope at least to be managing the odd Quarter Hour Challenge from Tuesday onwards.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Been to shop, bought stuff, come home - it's hot out there and my hands hurt from carrying too much shopping in too small a bag.

Mumto5 have you seen the pic of Ollie Murs in gold hotpants *fans self*

Dinner tonight is "pasta a la whatever" I will search the fridge for ingredients and bung all in a pan together (I cook like the late Keith Floyd - chuck it in, stir it every once in a while and take the odd quick slurp of vino while it cooks).

Re bedsheets: if you share a bed they get rumpled anyway  and if you sleep alone then who's to see so why iron

I need to stop procrastinating & get on with my paperwork.

ETA what special attention does Mr LW get on a Bank Hol Lamewolf? *sniggers*

I keep having little flurries of excitement at the prospect of school a week on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday...

I will need cat back at vet at some point this week or early next week.
I need to buy shoes for DD3... the others are all done.
I need to check winter coats so see who needs a new one.
I need to decide what is happening re a bed for Squeak.. yes I know she is 3 but she loves her cot still and fits in with loads of room and doesn't climb out. I'm not sure whether to get bunks for when Dot needs a bed too or just get a cheap junior bed for her as it will fit in the same gap and just need the same mattress.. I am SO indecisive!!

And school bags.. I need to sort bags and pencil cases and contents.

Squeaks school application on the 4th needs doing and Moomins for high school.. 'tis easy enough.

I was mortified earlier.. Squeak was very rude to OH's aunt.. she came to meet the baby and as she was leaving Squeak said 'goodbye and don't come back' ... she got herself a very good telling off.. I hate rudeness, I know she didn't fully understand what she was saying but she will next time!! So rude!!!

    Hello all

Just popped in to say I haven't forgot I am suppose to be flying. I haven't done very well with keeping up with the lists but have tried to do at least one thing on them each day. I have been de-cluttering a little each day but it is hard whilst ds is here, he is an only child so wants me to play with him all the time. We have been 'playing' tiding his room, his room is quite tidy anyway so we have been sorting out his clothes drawers etc.

I have purchased uniform just need shoes next week. Not done labels yet I always do ironing whilst watching the soaps so that will be a mid-week job.

I'm sat on the sofa working my way through Christmas plans. I've been doing the Christmas Countdown (here) since 2002, then 'upgraded' to the Holiday Grand Plan (here) in 2004 but its not working for me any more as its too 'American' and for much bigger houses/families. I tried House and Holidays Plan (here) last year but it didn't work either. Living in a 2 bed terraced house, with one livingroom and no front garden, I really don't need 12 weeks to deep clean & organise my house while preparing for Christmas. So, I am combining the various lists into one that will work for me and my family ;) Its taking some time, but that's why I'm sorting it out now before any of them officially start next weekend. I'm hoping to get decorating done as well so the plan is to start the first full week DD is back at school.

DD has finally found something to keep her entertained..she's learning to crochet :D I can't get my head around it, but DD is having a fine time and has managed to do a chain stitch row the length of our 3-seater sofa, and is now doing the 'single crochet' row. Its kept her quiet and busy for a few hours but now her hands are aching so she's having a break ;) I can't wait until she gets the knack of other stitches and starts knitting granny squares etc :D

Flying wise I've been doing laundry and thats about it. DD has washed up and we're decluttering stuff on the freeview ;) Its sunday so we're taking it easy :p
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
