Some great photos on this thread.

I enjoy watching the birds that come into the garden. We've managed to attract quite a few with just some fat balls and a bird bath.

I've just bought a bird feeding station - I'm going on holiday on Saturday, but when we come back we'll set it up, so we'll have spaces for nuts and seeds too, so maybe we'll get a few more visitors.

Our regulars are wood pigeons, collared doves, blackbirds, sparrows and a robin. We also have visits from magpies, blue tits, greenfinches, goldfinches and thrushes, plus some starlings.

Once word gets out about the feeding station, they'll be queuing up to use it!

Finally - the one I like the least, think it's the hopping action. Two of these came down often, same as the goldfinches which always came as a pair.

Yes - all the pics taken in the same place - front and back garden of the cottage. The pine marten was astounding.

In the same place are brown hares, loads of deer, opreys, sea eagles and sometimes fields of Canada geese stopping to decimate the fields. That's why I am moving there permanently. Flocks of blue tits, green finches, siskins - the whole lot.

The squirrels are my favourite and the jays my least liked. Not that it matters much as they are all there and I enjoy them all.

Sounds beautiful. We have had many holidays on the West coast and seen a lot of wildlife, no pine martins unfortunately! Such a beautiful place.

slightly off topic but on Monday on the Humber i saw a black swan with some bigger white ones. it didn't click at the time how unusual it was an hence never took a picture. Only yesterday in doing some research did i find out how rare they are :o

That made me think immediately of Perth, Western Australia which has a large population of black swans. The main river in Perth is the Swan and it is beautiful - one of my outstanding memories of a long trip around the country.

ljonski, we saw a black swan at Hornsea Mere a few weeks ago, its a lovely place to see all kinds of birds. We always take a bit of bread, sweetcorn and seed when we visit. Its quite funny really when you pull up in the car you are immediately surrounded by all sorts hoping for some food such as Canada Geese, Mallards, Sea Gulls, Wagtails etc. Its a nice place for a drive out and its free !!
