Any keen bird feeders out there?

Most evenings at dusk I see a blackbird sitting in the rowan, checking if it's safe to go and roost in a conifer. Plant evergreens and give the birds somewhere to sleep.0

I've started feeding the crows on the park as I walk to work. They love it when I drop handfuls of mixed seed on the ground, and then when I look back, they swoop down from the big trees to eat it. Brings me great pleasure. I only feed when the temps. start getting v. low.
I don't have birds to feed at home as I have a very active cat, unfortunately. But... I do save my cat fur from all the regular grooming he gets and put it in a jar. Then come late winter-spring time I then stuff inside bare hedges, so that the birds can use this for nesting material. People at work think I'm mad 'coz that's where I place the in the car park perimeter hedging!0 -
My Dad was housebound for the last couple of years of his life and liked to watch the gulls foraging on the field opposite his bungalow. When I visited I bought fish and chips for us and threw out the left-overs on the field for them. I swear they got to know and would wait for their chips and a few even seemed to follow me from the chippie!0

I definitely saw a wren this morning. I'm so pleased. I get such pleasure from seeing new birds come and visit.i haven't seen any finches now for a few weeks, are they visiting anyone else's garden? Still plenty of robins, blackbirds, tits, collared doves and of course the pigeons!0

Jenny Wren is very entertaining to watch. We've one who is either resident in the garden or very nearby. A regular visitor and very methodical and consistent in approach. Start in the wall trough on the garage wall, down, to the bed beside the fishpond then one lap of the flower beds in an anticlockwise direction. You can see her bobbing along the ground, up the odd plant, wombling her way round. Never doubles back, never goes round clockwise.
Blackbirds seem to be getting territorial already, have regular visits from the doves. Pidgeon crashed into the living room window on Saturday - left a very clear body-with-head-turned-sideways-and-wings-outstretched pattern of feather whateveritscalled on the window. Flew away over the garage, so I'm assuming not too damaged.
Waiting for the goldfinches to return to their nest in the small maple in the front garden - heck of a racket when they fledged last year, one chick took refuge in the driveway and had to be shooed out of the backdoor during its efforts to find a hidey-hole.0 -
Goldfinches come in for nyger seed and sunflower hearts, otherwise they don't make much of an appearance.
Blackbirds are ignoring the half apples put out, as are all the birds!
Today I put out mealworms, fat balls and suet bits. The red squirrel has already snaffled a whole fat ball for himself.
I have tits and finches galore, it's really lovely. I spent a bit of time today clearing up inside the barn and putting more of the bird feed into strong plastic containers away from the field mice. Tomorrow I'll get some more peanuts from the country store as there's only a smallish amount left.0 -
Camera busted, so can't confirm with a picture. Neighbour was preparing for a special trip to see Cranes , then 14 flew over this morning, she thinks on the way to Welney Bird sanctuary. Didn't even know they were this far north.0

any type of bird food is welcome this time of year."if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170
