Anyone know what happens if I ring council and by the time they come to ticket the car and if the car thats blocking my driveway is already gone will I get fined or am I liable for anything?0
-
No - no more than if you call the police to report a burglary in progress and the police turn up to find the burglar already gone. They might not be very keen on pursuing the miscreant if they can't catch him in the act, but there'll be no unpleasant consequences for you, other than not seeing him get a ticket.
Is that why you recommended I take pictures myself? I can take pics with date and time stamped. So I can send it to council if they can't catch them?0 -

Get your council to paint a white H Bar - they look like a capital letter H stretched horizontally - across the width of your driveway on the carriageway, parallel to the kerb line - this basically denotes where vehicles should not park as access needs to be maintained.
It has no legal meaning whatsoever; you are told that in the application form. It may help though.0 -

Hi,
It might be very easy to get your local council involved in sorting this if they are anything like mine. My local council see any parking transgression as a superb way of making extra money. This was happening to a neighbour of mine with someone who lived further up the road parking across their dropped kerb. One phone call to the council parking enforcement team and the offending car was placed on the back of a tow lorry and taken to the pound.0 -

Consider yourself lucky that you don't live in Kent
" 3.1.3 Parking adjacent to a dropped kerb outside residential premises:
It is recommended that CEO’s do not issue PCN’s in these locations as the legislation explicitly allows vehicles to be parked in these circumstances by or with the consent of the occupier, unless it is a shared driveway. The enforcement of private dropped kerbs may lead to a public expectation of a 24 hour enforcement regime and the subsequent removal of vehicles which cannot be achieved under the current enforcement processes. "
I've never had anyone park in front of my driveway as everyone has a driveway, and there's always tons of on street parking available, but a friend of mine isn't so lucky. The only way she could get the issue resolved was to contact the police, several times, who finally towed the offending vehicle after much prompting.

Hi guys! Quick update.
Spoke to a traffic warden at council today. He said they will register my driveway for dropped kerb enforcement which will start from 01 September. Anyone blocking my driveway from then will be ticketed and towed away. They said its also 24 hour service and all I need to do is ring the number and give them a code which I will receive in post in a week or so.
Hopefully my driveway will become a moneymaker for council. 😄
Ill update you guys on any progress.

but won't that mean that neither you nor any of your guests can park there either?0
